Loose wire in Steering wheel?

ok, I have a 1997 993 with 63k miles. Just recently I noticed when the car is on, the horn is very sensitive--it goes off if I slightly touch it. Also, when coming to a stop, if I stop too hard the horn goes off. Any ideas, my guess is a loose ground wire.

You are experiencing 993 horn pad failure. It is not an uncommon problem. There are four rubber grommets that hold the horn pad retaining ring to the steering wheel base. Those grommets give up over time. Some have replaced their grommets, some have replaced the whole part.

In my case my mechanic was able to adjust the contacts somehow to make it slightly less sensitive.

Search on Rennlist in the 993 Forum for "Steering Wheel Horn Retaining Frame" and you'll find a DIY on using slices of plastic tubing to fashion spacers/grommets.
