Are you using the 993 C4S as a daily driver? I am looking at one to purchase and use as a DD. How many miles does yours have?

Hey Hunter!
Yep, the 1998 C4S Aero is a DD. I had originally gotten a 993TT to daily; however, it was heavily customized at the factory to be a one-off and driving it as a DD just felt like a sin.

Got about 41k miles on the C4S. The car is a dream to drive. It's more solid than my old Lexus (IS250 AWD) and makes every drive a treat. It's subtle design doesn't tend to attract unwanted attention (the color's low key), but it does generate frequent thumbs up from passing cars, etc.

My only advice, which is obvious (but still best imparted), is to get the best 993 you can afford. Do a PPI and shoot for a car with as much documented history as possible. You may want to think about buying a good aftermarket bumper-to-bumper warranty, if you can find one, for the first year to cover any bugs that might appear as you get to know the vehicle.

Not sure where you live, but if it's a warm weather climate (e.g., Cali), you may want to get the C2S. Lighter, less mechanicals to go wrong, and actually quite rare. If you live in a cold climate, options like a heated seat are recommended if you can find it.

Good luck on your search and feel free to PM me with any additional questions. This forum on 6 is composed of an incredibly knowledgeable group of people who are only too happy to share.

Look forward to your ultimate post of "Here's my new car! "

Cheers!

Hi Thanks for the quick reply. I had a 993 years ago, great car. I am looking at a red C4S with 100,000 to use as a DD. I am in the NJ tri state area, so thought C4S would be suitable. I have to do a carfax on it. I was thinking that its an old car for a DD, that's my only concern.

No problem, Hunter. It's not the age of the car, but rather the condition of the car. Mileage at 100k would just make me wonder whether the car was abused, neglected, hit at any point of its time on the road... possibly setting you up for costly, unexpected repairs.

I nailed my C4S with 36k and it's as solid as a rock. I've got no qualms that it will sail well over 100-150k before it needs any major repairs. And, when it finally does start to show its age, I plan to simply have it restored and drive it all over again
