All in all, it depends how badly you want to DD a 993

I've been told that the 993 C4 or C4s perform very well in the winter??
In fact I've even asked if this can be a daily driver in Montreal, where winter is pretty brutal and I was told the 993 was built for stormy weather.

Can you be more descriptive of how driving in the winter really is with a 993? I might have to change my game plan. I am actively looking for a C4 for a year-round car (budget $32k) but if it's not a winter car, I may as well same some money and get a C2 for summer only. Truth is I really don't want to have 2 cars.

I owned a 1996 C4 and I drove it year round in Chicago which probably has similar winters to Montreal. I did have a separate set of winter tires for it. I didn't drive onto streets that weren't plowed if the snow was greater than 6 inches. Occasionally, on plowed streets if I got a little heavy footed, the rear end would get a little loose. However, that would probably happen with any type of vehicle. I sold my 993 a couple of years ago and I've deeply regretted my decision. I hope to get a 993 as a daily driver again.

Here's an update as I just sold my 993 C4S Aero (but kept my 993TT )

The C4S was a bear in foul weather, the big all-season tires hydroplaned like crazy and it slipped around in the snow. Winter tires would have helped I suspect; however, they wouldn't address the issue of ground clearance. My C4S was lowered to within an inch of its life.

Even if you do DD a 993, be sure to factor in what the road salt will do to that car's pretty nose if you don't have 3M or a bra up front.

My formula is a S4 Avant as a daily and a 993TT when the weather's nice. Best of luck on what you decide on!
