993 Battery Not Charging

My 1995 C2 993 is not getting juice to the battery. Alternator light lights when key is turned on and goes off when engine fires, but no charge to battery. Over the course of a few days, the battery loses charge to the point the car won't start. The alternator light is SLIGHTLY dimmer than some of the other indicator lights, and I've heard a light with too low a wattage can cause the alternator to not "light off" (inaccurate term I know). The alternator was replaced a year or two ago by the previous owner and I don't want to throw money at a new alternator if it's something else. Just replaced battery and Autozone guy said no charge from alternator which I confirmed with local Porsche mechanic. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Bob
