What is the model designation for 1987 Porsche 911?

1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 2

What is the engineering designation (i.e. 993, 996, etc.?)

In 87 it was just 911..........anything before 964 (in street cars) was just 911 I believe.

78-83 were the SCs and 84 - 89 were the Carreras no C2 or C4.

Right Steve (I had to look it up)........911 Super Carreras.... and then in 84 "Carreras" through 88 (improved 5 speed gear box in 87).........then we get the 964 (internal designation) in the form of the 911 Carrera 2 and Carrera 4.
