12" wheel clearance - differences between 996gt2 and 996tt

i'm trying to get some information on the difference with clearance between a 996gt2 and 996tt. i'm trying to get a 12" rim to fit (19x12et51). I understand that the stock wheel is a 18x12et45, so i would have thought that if you space it out 6 mm it would be identically spaced. i also have a JIC cross coilover setup on the car (which should create a little extra room).

any thoughts about whether such a wheel would fit?

what are the suspension differences that would effect clearance between a 996tt and a 996gt2?

thanks kindly.

Cheers,
Boris

You can run a 12" wheel on the turbo. The problem shows up if you're running your car extremely low, you may rub the fender when the suspension compresses. The simple fix for that is rolling the rear fenders. The fronts come rolled from the factory.

You may also find rubbing on the inner plastic liner- I have basically worn a hole on the inner wheel side near the rear of the car.

I'd be careful with that, I hear this is an easy way to cause a fire for track guys.
