60-130 Competition - 10/27 - Lonestar Motorsports Park - Houston, TX
Just for ****s and giggles, I called Larry Prebis (owner of Sound Performance in Chicago) who has a low 8 second Supra. He pulled the AEM log off of a 8.5@167 pass and his 60 to 130 time was 3.06 seconds!
I know it's not official off a VBOX but pretty neat info nonetheless and DEAD accurate per the AEM to the hundred thousandths decimal place...

Hahaha!!!! You Porsche geeks keep having your ***' handed to you by the Supra's. Wait a second, I guess that includes me. Wish I could have made it. I would have loved to look over that Subi. Beautiful car!!!
Damn 3 seconds? Is it street legal with interior or 1/4 mile race prepped?
EDIT:
Is this the Supra you are talking about...

swift - street legal? I'm sure he can get a sticker saying it's legal! LOL It's not full interior, but it's not stripped either...and yes, it is 1/4 mile car, definately not something you can drive everyday.

I'd be interested to see how my old race car would do on a driftbox. They will be making some passes in it soon. Hopefully it click off an 8.5 or a 8.6 in the 1/4. Its def. got a lot more power than before when it went 8.9s.
This is an interesting run and impressive times. Congrats.
Excuse my ignorance with these beasts, but do these Supras have some sort of special gear shifting arrangement?
To put things into perspective, this car is accelerating, i.e. gaining speed, during a 0.4 second shift STRONGER than any highly modded (60-130 in the 5s) 996TT in 3rd gear with the foot to the metal.
For reference, my no-lift shifts of 0.2 seconds with a sequential gearbox dropped Gs to 0.2 maximum, this is over 0.6G! You have about a second gain right there.
Something does not seem right

Interesting, that is one fast transmission! The 997TT Tip reputed-fast-transmission is not even close to this.
Is the other Supra also running it?
Can this trans be fitted to a Porsche at all?

The 4.2 Supra is essentially a racing tranny.
Bob's 4.15 was with a TH400 tranny and a Neil Chance convertor...
My 4.72 was with a stock 6-speed granny shifting to avoid wheel spin and a wall smack!

Jean,
Since you are not a big General Motors guy.
That transmission is the top of the line TurboHydromatic 400 (They made TH350 and
TH400) the latter being much stronger and has about a "million" aftermarket upgrade options mostly catering to the drag racing crowd, hell you can hook up a stall speed torque converter so that it will not launch until 6000rpms, but that is a little rough
on the groceries. This is like the small block chevy of transmissions.
Wow, what a 60-130, congrats Peter (with your 6speed) that is impressive.
