Tire Weights

I'm still in the process of doing the final evaulation on what wheels for fit to my GT2 to reduce the weight, but heres another thought:

No-one has yet discussed tire weights in any depth.

Given that the tire sits further out from the wheel and is also predominently edge-weighted, the tire weight has a greater effect on rotational inertia than wheel weight. I've calculated that a 1lb saving on a tire is equivalent on a 2.5lb saving on the wheel.

So - the big question is - does anyone have tire weights for the main choices?

Thanks.

Any idea if there are any particularly large variations in tire weights between say Corsas, Pilot Sport and Pilot Sport Cup, which are the three I'd consider for my GT2 (315/30/18)....?

If there are no substantial variations, then this will not be worth pursuing in detail.

Last night I put Champion 19 forged with PS2s on my car. The fronts were 44 pounds, wheels and tires, the rears were 54 pounds, as I recall. The numbers are at home, and this was with a bathroom scale, so they are not exact. The stock wheels and tires were 10-11 pounds heavier each. Hope this non-scientific test helps, and I can be more exact with a better scale.
