Question Lambo Gallardo vs 996Turbo

hello,
Im an ex-Turbo owner, I sold my car a year ago ( biggest mistake of my life ) because I traveled and I had no one to keep it with.. anyway.. Im thinking of purchasing the Gallardo instead, because of the 997 and the uncertainty about whether there is a Turbo or not. but I would like to ask you about how the cars compare to each other, and did anyone have exprience with both or even raced a Gallardo, so which car is faster?? ( I know porsche is superior in everything else ) but Im consindered how a gallardo would keep up with a STOCK Turbo ( X50 maybe ).. thanks..

996

P.S.
which transmission should I get. Manual or E-SHIFT ( Speedshift ). keeping in mind that the clutch is sensitive and costly to repair. and Im not a person who doesnt care about that. am I missing out when not getting a Manual?

The Gallardo is very cool. I would be tempted by one if I did have to have a back seat for kids.

If you are so worried about speed, it sounds like the easiest thing to do is buy the TT and take it up to 600 hp or more put a performance suspension set up on it.

you're right, that was my plan with my old TT.. but it didnt turn out well, so I want me a stock car that can beat a stock TT.. and I guess it does in certain ways, but Im sure it would never live up to the feel of the TURBO, but I guess it has one thing, a sense of occasion.

Ouch. That doesn't sound good. What happened or is their a thread on this. I am interested because after a year, I am about to start with some fairly serious performance mods on my TT.

Gallardo is interesting...depends on what you want...if you are looking for that magical balance between supercar and everyday driver, the TT cannot be beat. Good problem to have!

I plan to order a Gallardo next week. After test driving one, I just can't get it out of my head. My Porsche will stay, get modified and be much faster ... but there is something about that Lambo that gets my Monkeys shaking their cages.

I would steer clear of the E-gear ... the car has difficulty going really slow (example: parking, going up very steep driveway's, etc ...) because of its really tall first gear ... one gentleman in California has had is car in the dealership for two months because he coulndn't make it up his driveway without either the ECU slipping the clutch really really bad, then he tried taking the traction control off and he made it up the drive but had to open up his engine deck to let all the smoke out ( did this with the dealer rep in the car with him ) ... he has now proceeded to act on the LEMON law ... many will follow with E-gear as Lambo doesn't have a fix for it yet ....

Haven't heard any problems with the 6-speed ...

Dario
