6speedonline Suggestions Poll Opinions

To all members

Hi. My name is Preeth and I have been a member of this message board from day 1. I have gotten into scuffles with a few people but most of the time I am pretty quiet.

The past few weeks I have become slightly bored at the topics that are posted on this board. I usually frequent the WRX board and am usually happily surprised at the intense amount of performance talk that these people do.

I just have a suggestion and an opinion that I would like others on this board to shine in on. I think that we should have a seperate message board sections each for Performance Talk, For Exterior and any Aesthetic talk, Audio/Visual, and Wheels/Tires. I think its kind of pointless to have all of these messages in one section.

Just wanted to see what people have to say about this.

Thanks

Interesting idea. It would certainly stop a lot of the cross posts.

We manage by numbers, not whims. The numbers are going up. Not to pad ourselves on the back, but sounds like we're doing something right. However, I do value your opinion, so thanks.

I have to say that i see what Preeth is talking about, and he has a valid point.

At the time of this reply, there was one "interpersonal" post (a post about someone having an pm), one inquiry into a old board member, and at least one (i only looked quick, might be 2) upcoming events posted.

What i think would address Preeth's comments, as well as enhance the board , would be easily solved with a few "sticky" posts, or a separate section addressing the most common threads. A good example of this can be seen with the multiple posts in which someone is interested in seeing what a new part would look like. Why not make a read only thread, or section, that shows different 996s with different kits? Or the continuing discussion over exhausts, (with examples would be nice)...I think a good example of this is also seen in the "cjv car go" thread. I has a ton of useful discussion, but its been around forever, so why not make it a sticky. That individual thread might be the greatest example since it encompasses so many attributes, but i hope you get the general idea.

Just my opinion

Pete

ps. If what i wrote doesnt make any sense, pls forgive me, i am too damn tired to proof read it atm. I will check it tomorrow.

I understand the point but let's not forget that there are a lot of very solid friendships that have developed over time due to this forum. The technical pieces are important and the information is good, but for me that doesn't compare to the great guys and gals I've met due to 6speed.

The cars are awesome and the people are even better!

My .02.

It can get too fragmented, but maybe other folks don't have as much time to surf as I do, so Preeth has something to consider.

Hey Preeth, BTW, are we going to get together? Could you PM me at your comvenience. TIA, Don

It should stay the way it is. I don't see the membership large enough yet to warrant multiple 996TT forums. This site is supported by membership, not public access. Most of us live active and busy lives, and probably appreciate only having to surf or respond to one forum. Of course there's the exception.....
Maybe when it becomes routine to get 2 or more pages of the latest daily postings, separate forums can be intoduced.
If particular threads don't interest you, go on to the next one. Or better yet, start one of your own You get my point....

I would leave it alone. I have no trouble deciding which posts I want to read, and sometimes I stumble onto one that I wouldn't normally look at, but it ends up being a topic of interest. Great forum.

Preeth;
It seems that all boards go through cycles on how interestng the content is (to me). It probably has more to do with me than the threads or the main topic categories.
I am curious as to how different categories will change what people post and thereby make the content more interesting to you?

Site is great, leave it alone. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" We can always ignore the posts of no interest to us (as I do). Too many search locations would be a major PITA, IMHO. For a relatively new TT owner like myself, the varying subject matter is both entertaining and informative.

Wow, i think i actually made sense last night despite my exhaustion.

What i was referring to, isnt necessarily a change in forum topics, is more along the lines of "common thread; sticky posts". I figure it would streamline the search process for the user if there were sticky posts regarding exterior mods, interior mods, exhausts...etc... If someone is interested they could just as easily do a forum search, but as we all know most people ask first and search later.

The basis of any message board is community, or a sense of community, and the members that make up 6speedonline do a great job of it.
