2004 Build Quality: TT CAB vs Boxster

I just took my car in for the xth time and got a Boxster loaner car.

The Boxster has zero rattles and zero squeaks... and is a lot of fun to drive because of it.

My TT Cab has more rattles and other noises than any of the six previous 911 Cabs I have owned combined.

Could it be that the Finish - they make the Boxster - are better Porsche builders than the Germans? Or have all the seasoned Porsche builders been pulled over to the Cayenne line?

You know, it's interesting. My TT coupe makes more sounds than any other car I've ever had. Most other TT owners I've spoken with also comment on such sounds. Based on what I've read and heard, it's very common and most of the time you will have a very, very difficult time pinpointing the source of the sound.

Part of the TT mystique I suppose. I like Arlings suggestion that as long as the car drives well, it can make all the noises it wants!

Also, keep in mind that most cabs tend to make more sounds than coupes due to the rigidity of the vehicle. Had the same issue with my M3 cab (lots of creaking when taking turns, etc). Supposedly the rigidity on the TT Cab is supposed to be very good.

I think it's random. My TT has no creaks or squeaks , but the service loaner Boxsters I've driven have made lots of groaning roof noises and had interior squeaks .

Mine is noisy as well. Mostly with the top up. I do have an extremely annoying metalic buzz coming from either the drivers side of the dash or the drivers door. Sounds like a small metal clip vibrating. Not really loud but it bugs the crap out of me.

Install a Europipe or Fabspeed Stage 2 Loud exhaust and I guarantee that you wont be able to hear any more of those annoying little sounds that you hear now!

Y'all need to let it go.

It's a piece of machine bolted together, glued together, welded together.

It's going to make noises.

Maybe it is because the Boxster was designed from the ground up to be a convertible.

My Boxster is very tight and less noisey than the TT.

Love that cloud of oil on startup...warms the heart..

I can't believe how much oil these things burn..but it seems to be normal..

I had awful squeaking noises when I first got my TT Cab. The sound was so bad it was as if the suspension was falling apart. I found that it was caused by the metal boot cover coming in contact with the cabriolet top. I was able to isolate the area (directly in the middle below the rear window) where there was rubbing and put a piece of black electrical tape on the bottom of the metal strip. This solved the problem.

My TT has no creaks or squeaks. My old Boxter was a rattling piece of junk.

Would the suspension not be harsher on the TT?

JMT, don;t hold back!

I love my Boxster S even more after getting the TT. Fun to switch on nice sunny days.

I also had a 99 Boxster. The S was a huge improvement.
