996 TT as only car?

Hello,

I am just wondering what you guys think of using a 996 TT as your daily, and ONLY car? With prices of these cars becoming "affordable" it is tempting to say goodbye to the Audi and hello to P-car, but i am wondering if anyone drives their car everyday. I don't drive much on a weekly basis, and would be able to use a friends truck if i really needed to, so how bad of an idea would it be to have a TT as my only car...

TIA
Jack

It is the only way to go. I had the TT and a Ford Lightning for haulin' - never used it so I sold the truck. Never regretted it for an instant.

I don’t think it would be a good idea, unless you don’t mind shelling out for maintenance and normal dings and scratches wouldn’t cause heart failure. Having on a good set of a/s tires and softer suspension setting would make it more practical.

I have no clue, but i will find out soon. I DD my sti with coilovers, race motor mounts and alot of harder bushings, and it's not unbearable. I live in hotels so i will probably buy a car cover for it

Since the 996tt is an awesome overall car, it'd have no problem being someone's DD (in terms of practicality). I can't daily drive mine around here though as the environment isn't very favorable...

Plenty of inconsiderate (door dings), shady (thieves), idiotic (those that can't drive) and jealous (key your car, slash your tires, etc) types here to go around. That's why I keep a car for every occassion. The Audi's my daily beater though.

oh...to add to my post above...we also have some of the nation's most funked up roads...

potholes, cracks, crap on the road, construction areas, rocks (attributing to rock chips), steep driveways and huge speed bumps lol.

My 996TT has been my only car for the past three months since I bought it. I drive it to work 70 miles round trip every day. It is great.

It's my only car, as was its predecessor, a 996 C4.

Daily commute = 36 miles, all with ear-to-ear grin.

I have to be honest, in previous years I never even thought of driving such a car daily due to losing its specialness and overall daily abuse on the car. This has kept me back once modifying the he'll out of my cars to enjoying them day in and day out to their fullest potential, not to mention worrying about miles resale and so on!

Now whatever I get next I do not care one bit and will calm it down with the modifying and just drive the he'll out of the car every day without a worry, its only a car, do it!
