Brockway 920
Brockway 920
I'm trying to install a Brockway 920DIN in the single DIN location (above the AC control and below the NAV). Looking for a DIN sleve or DIN snap in brackets. Has anyone had any experience with this. (I search the Metra site and didn't see any universal single DIN kits. )
If you get a chance could you post a pic or two. Thanks
Duane,
I did the same...modified an OEM piece. I will be sending it out for CF treatment this winter, once I make a final adjustment so it's flush with the panel. Here's a picture, which may give you some ideas -

Dixie.
Looks like a factory fit. Nice CF treatment. Did you modify a factory DIN cubby tray to fit the Brockway. My problem is how to attach it securely to the DIN opening.

I'll try to explain,hope you understand me;
I glued inside the din opening 2 plastic L shaped pieces so you can screw the R920 to these L pieces with the original screws,I made 2 little pieces with carbon fiber (just a carbonfibre folie) to hide the screws. All the carbon you see on the brockway is just a folie from very good quality..

Correction for above mail:
I didn't use the original screws to secure the R920 to the dash but I made 1 hole in the middle between the 2 original screws and screwed this to the plastic L piece I glued to the inside of the dash. You cannot see any screws on my R920 because they're sealed with a little plastic piece as you can see on the picture...

How do you guys use the information you get from the R920? Do you use any of the optional modules?
I'm just starting to play around with it. I wanted to get some base line readings before I did any mods. The acceleratomoter is great and I still looking for a good spot to mount the shift light. I've only got one issue Brockway is working on, the unit doesn't power down when I turn the ignition off. John does your's power down at ignition off?
The piece you see started life as a CD holder. I removed the CD magazine and put in a flat piece of lexan to sit flush with the outside frame. This lexan piece had to be marked and cut for the Greddy before it was cemented and pinned in place. Here are pictures "before the CF treatment" and "after" - it's like body work. Just fill the voids, sand smooth and send out for CF covering...
McCarbon is the company - they will coat anything with CF. The piece is sent to Germany and is coated by either the company that does it for Porsche or a company that makes a perfect match. If you look closely, you can see the weave and pattern match the OEM CF pieces.
I use the Brockway primarily for AFR and occasionally glance at it during WOT pulls, just to see that things are still right. I used it more at first - in order to monitor my new Protomotive mods and make sure AFR's were in a safe zone. I don't use the other functions such as IAT, ECT, speed, RPM's, MAF G's, etc. at all, other than once in a while, out of curiousity.
When I get the Brockway DIN plate mounted flush with the surrounding OEM piece, it should end up looking just like the greddy piece. That is one of my winter projects...

Duane,
Yes, mine powers down. After a minute or so it goes black and stays off until the car is started again. Someone else said theirs did not power down - are you waiting long enough? Is it still on in the morning? Mine definitely turns off.

Thanks Duane - I like the look Dixie has achieved with the CF. I held off on completing the piece because I wasn't sure if I would keep the brockway in the car. Now that I have seen Dixie's work and concluded I like having the B920 on board at all times, that piece is begging for the CF treatment...
