Before you get smacked with the "search stick": Internally and externally they are completely different.

Very little is the same since the (996) GT2, GT3 and 996TT motor were based up
Porshces 3.2 liter (?) GT1 RACING MOTOR. Guys like Todd Knighton, the Porsche Dr.,
Kevin at UMW, the engine guy at EVOMS (I have met him a few times and his name
is slipping me-sorry), can tell you the specifics.

Good luck,

Marty K.

the turbo engine like the GT3's are based off the GT1 964 engine block with the most glaring difference is that they are lubricated with a dry sump oil collections system vs the wet sump of the NA engine.
that to me translates into a track engine vs a not really a track engine. the dry sump keeps the engine lubricated under high lateral g's while the NA engine can have episodes of poor lubrication which would lead to failure.
the Turbo engine is far superior.
