Dez,

That is very admirable of you, with help I think you guys can make a go
of it. The main reason I picked Protomotive (as an example), is because they
stand behind their word.
Realize when Neil was trying to get going, I bought at FULL retail a
PSI 480 ECU flash for $3500 !!! and
PSI Loud exhuast for $5000 !! this was when Neil was selling PSI.
He now has better product and needs help on the business side.

I am not trying to bash anyone, however, if Marty paid for products and Neil did not deliver, than I could careless how talented someone is.

At the end of the day he is a thief and has zero morals/ethics, you should watch yourself IMO

If it went down the way Marty has said than the guy should not be able to post/sponsor on this forum until Marty is paid IMO

Have you said all you need to say? Either your going to bash or not, but saying one thing and doing another makes you no better than the one you criticize.

I know what I'm doing, I dont need anyone to tell me how to conduct business. If that is your opinion then so be it, but mine differs. He is not a forum sponsor here so that is irrelevant at the present time.

He replied back to me with answers to my questions. I think I will go by his shop and check it out for myself before passing judgment. His prices are definitely good, that's for sure.

I would prefer not to go into it further.
The money Neil owes me was not for the products that I listed above.
He has paid me back partially (in product) what he owes me, and then the
payments stopped. I am hopeful that I can be repaid in full.

I do not want to mislead anybody, I got the products that I ordered from
Neil. This involves something else.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful input. Just when I thought I had narrowed my list of possible tuners, people complicate matters by suggesting additional companies that I had not previously considered. I am trapped in a state of indecision. Evo, Proto, UMW, IA, Neil Orton, SG, Sharkwerks - my head is spinning. I guess I have to continue my research, read more, make some phone calls, narrow the field, and make a decision. I just hate to make a mistake on something so important. I have read horror stories about certain tuners (not for Porsches) and I don't want to get burned like that. All I want is a good and reliable product, at a reasonable price, that produces both numbers and performance. It sounds like many tuners offer that for Porsches and I may be picking a name out of a hat.

Thanks again.

The Doctor is out.

Why Proto, rather than UMW or Evo or others? It seems like Proto has gained a lot of momentum here on this forum lately, and others have been quietly fading away. Why is that? I have been reading old threads and it seems like a few years ago, the only Proto car being discussed was owned by a guy named Alex. I don't see any recent posts from Alex -what happened to him? Did something bad happen to his Proto car that is being swept under the rug? A few years ago, everyone was posting fantastic reviews of Evo cars (the 700 package in particular). I also read threads about 800 hp cars produced by Evo (that yellow cab was beautiful -- what happened to that car). Now, the pendulum appears to have swung. Recently, many more people are talking about Proto cars and packages and I see very little about Evo cars. Why is that? Better mouse trap? Pricing? Is Evo moving away from Porsche tuning? Something else?

Thanks for your help.

+1 Protomotive

I am very happy with my setup. I have about 3k miles on this package and another 6k from when it was 600hp and not once have I had any issues. If you're on the north east I highly recommend Protosport in Pompton Plains, NJ.

Seriously you need to just call them yourself. It is a personal decision...you have done enough internet surfing...now call them and talk first hand with them...they all like to talk

Alex owned the Proto car that won the first shootout the one in my sig that my car was in. He sold it and bought a GT2 he does not post much anymore. Don't think the new owner is a 6 speed memberEvoms has many happy customers and the GT700 is one of the all time best selling kits. Evoms has grown quite large and is very successful. Proto is a small shop but they make great cars at a reasonable price. The yellow 800 hp car from Evo was owned by a guy named Bill who was running a ponzi scam and fled the Country it was recently for sale in Chicago.

Thanks for your help.
I HAD FVD, GIAC, CARGRAPHICS- all of them were fine.
I chose Protomotive because at the time other tuners were not able to do a custom tune. Nor did I live in Cali or AZ. Things have changed now...

In my opinion, being on my 4th set up..... you can go with any discussed tuners and u will be fine. Its when u want a custom set up is when I would consider things more in detail. If ur planing on getting some turbos, ecu and exhaust and ur trying to compare and beat this one to the ground... you will never get one straight answer. You will never get a consensus. You will only get different guys tell you different things. Each tuner is good at some things... but always lacks something to make them the best.
Drive a couple set ups if u can and then decide.
markski
