mustang is an option to consider. it is rumored to be a reliable solution (protomotive).

What do you mean by better? It depends on your tune/tuner. Is your ECU set-up for anything other than the Bosch Maf? If not stick with the stock one...

What do you mean you checked with the bosch computer? What do you mean the Maf is tired? The Maf may become dirty with oils and particles for which cleaning with an electronic cleaner may be appropriate, but after that it either works or is fried and can not be brought back to life.

Maf

Just swapped out my stock maf for the Hitachi unit with associated revised ecu programming. Seems to be pulling a bit harder than previous and I've seen 1.5bar spikes on the stock guage vs. 1.4bar spikes previously. However, when combined with a lwfw as on my GT2, I am still seeing the occasional stall upon slowing to 1st from speed. EVOMS, is in process of addressing this issue with a modified program for those with the lightweight flywheel. Will advise on my impressions once I get the update.

Maf

If your car is stock with Bosch Maf, you'll have to stay with the same one. The Hitachi Maf is optimized for higher power cars and requires reprogramming the ecu. Not sure about other Mafs.

If your car is stock and still under warrantee, I'd have your dealer check it out and possibly replace(under warrantee). If not, you might try some electronic component spray cleaner and see if it helps before attempting replacement. It's not difficult to do.

A dirty Maf could easily be causing your rpm fluctuations. I would try that first. If your air filter is not stock and/or is dirty, it might also be a culprit. Good luck. By the way, if the car is just recently off warrantee, you might have the dealer check as he may replace as a good will gesture since it's not a major proceedure. Worth a try.
