static vs. Rolling dynos
static vs. Rolling dynos
I was reviewing Stephen’s numbers and can say that I am truly grateful to have a guy with his knowledge, passion and sincerity on this board. However I couldn’t help but wonder if the results would be different if a static dyno was used. I have heard from several reliable sources that Alois Ruf has tested all the exhausts on static dynos rather then rolling dynos b/c of the slippage factor and trying to maintain parity between runs. I also think that in most cases people should listen to the exhaust rather then just going for the max hp. I have had many exhausts on my car and find the sound quality to be the most important factor to me.
Obviously there are many factors. Stephen took several different exhausts on the same car in very simialar situtaions. Some performed much better than others. One would have to think if the same tests were performed on a static dyno that the numbers might vary, but the end result would be the same as Stephen's numbers!!!
