I would like to make a Point of Clarification: The item that is being replaced is the Waste Gate Actuator, not the Waste Gate itself. The K16 or K24 Waste Gate is a small flapper valve that is contained inside the Turbocharger. Most other Turbo Chargers in the world have separate external Waste Gates and with Waste Gate Actuators attached to them. Closing the Waste Gate prevents the exhaust gas from bypassing the flow through turbine section.

Keith is exactly right. Its just the part that opens and closes the acutal waste. The stock actuator usually doesnt hold more than .7 bar.

Before we go and by 20 of these remember the risks involved. I have been told that this WILL reduce the life of your k16 turbos, its actaully supposed to be used on the k24's. I will just upgrade if they go but I think you guys should be aware of the risks.

I was thinking of doing this mod also. Is it really necessary with the extra horses applied with GIAC, EVO intake, and Fab exhaust? Is it worth the time?

Make sure you arent boosting 1.1, when i did it I felt the car to be slower at 1.0-1.1 then to a steady and strong .9 wit 1.0 spike!

Thats really interesting I didnt know there was a k16 version. Are you sure its not just the stock one? this looks different than stock (larger) comes with new adjustment bars and brackets to mount it.

Depends on what boost you are seeing. If you already see 1.1 then I would not do it, its not worth the undo stress on the turbos.

I was only seeing .9 bar max (upsolute), this increased me to solid 1.0 earlier in the rev range with peaks of 1.1.

A lot of people with GIAC are already seeing those peaks so I would not recommend it. There is a guy on here with the GIAC and wastegate actuators seeing up to 1.4 (I think with race fuel), which I personly would not want to do on my rig.
