We are talking about a modern day Porsche here not a DeLorean. 38k is not "high miles" at all IMO.

Went to test drive the car yesterday and the battery was dead, and they had just done the service on the car and had the clutch replaced on the car by Porsche of Naples. The car was in very good shape and drove well (once it was jumped). I am still going to look at everything. What is a fair price for a 2003 with 15-35k miles?

Depends on options. Range is $60K - $80K

38K miles HIgh?

I think its a fair deal, But really depends on the options and service history.

Even if it has no history 38k is low mileage. Most 996tt owners drive less then 10k a year. So being an 03 with 38k is really low miles. If it has 20k it would be really low miles. I would look more into the condition of the car and option then miles. You could have a car with 10k miles and look like ****, and another with 40k and look brand new. All depends on the owner. So
Look for a nice owner and i'm sure you'll find a nice car. As i was looking for my Used turbo, i bought it from a private seller and not a dealer. Most dealer are picking these up at the auction and have no idea whats been done to them.

Thanks for the input. I really don't want to spend over 65k so I think I am going to have to play the waiting game.

Well said. I feel so much more comfortable potentially purchasing from a forum member as it shows they are truly passionate about the car and therefore significantly more likely to have cared for it well.

Almost every carfax report on the dealer cars shows that they have been through an auction. I guess that's not necessary a bad thing but it makes me less comfortable not knowing the full history of the car ...

38K miles isn't that high, however I wouldn't pay over 60-61K for it. A 2003 996TT w/ 13K for 64K...now thats a good deal.

What he said.

For an '02 that's about 7500 miles per year. Pretty low.

A car that isn't driven enough is subject to it's own set of problems.

I have loved every moment in my 95 993 which now has 145,000 miles on her. I bought the car new in 94 and have been the only driver since. I have all records and have had the car maintained and when required, repaired professionally.
The point is, there are high mileage cars and then there are high mileage cars. Do the homework, get the ppi. There are high mileage beauties out there that are a real steal

Mileage?

what happens when you sit on the couch all day and then try going for a marathon?
I second this unless your buying a collectible...whats a few more miles
on a driver as long as it has been maintained and cared for?
I firmly believe, most owners who put <3k miles a year don't start their cars
and let them get to operating temp as often as needed.

I would much rather have a car that was driven 30-60 miles everyday.
