I'm not going to get into this real deep and I'm sure this applies to both of the manufactures. They don't simply take a set of their shocks and mount them.

One real simple no brainer is to take the height of your car and have the shafts cut to the appropiate height. Then the coil springs need to be installed to match both the shock shaft height and the cars intended application.
