Squeaking brake pads
Squeaking brake pads
I have to start a new thread because I cannot yet post replies...
There are a lot of good reasons *not* to use Pagid Orange pads on the street.:
1. They are made for racing, so they work much better when they are hot. You can't get them hot enough on the street to be in their working range. You can tell that your brakes aren't getting hot enough from the photo of hte rotors - no cracks at the holes.
2. Since their coefficient of friction is higher than a stock pad, you need less pedal pressure for the same braking action. That doesn't allow the pistons to seat well against the back of the pad, leading to the annoying squeal.
3. They create a lot more dust than a stock pad.
I swap out the stock pads for Pagid Yellows when I go to the track, then switch back when I come back. You have to do the break-in procedure every time you switch pads.
