Jack Stand Placement

I hate to ask this question, because it is somewhat elementary, but I will ask anyway. I loaned out my favorite jack stands that use the plug location that the jack goes in under the side skirts. In the meantime, I have some heavy duty 6 ton jacks stands that I want to use. They are tall, 14" so they wont get into many of my other favorite places. Is this a viable alternate location, it's the bracket that the cross member attaches to, and it goes to frame. Thanks...

killerbee is infamous around these parts
I'd be wary of steel to aluminum contact as it cracks much better than it bends (once cracked you are pretty much screwed). I'd be more inclined to use the std points and put something over the jack end to insure that it stays put...a notched hockey pucks can work if you are careful.
