Porsche: King of the 'ring?
Divexxtreme: the Pagani Zonda F should be included in the list. 7:33 as per the Sport Auto Supertest: http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?vie...ID=2&tID=83550
"The price tag of $741,000 (USD) puts it off-limits for most drivers anyway, as does the fact that it’s not street legal in the United States. (Pagani says he’ll remedy that and have a U.S. version available for 2008.)"

And IMHO, the 7:50 Nissan GT-R should be left out of the list until a proper Supertest is done for the car. The conditions during a Supertest is quite different than that for regular Sport Auto test test drives (no other cars on the track during a Supertest, etc. etc.).
As for the 997 GT2, all I can say is WOW. Truth be told, I used to think that it'll be impossible for it to match/exceed the time set by cars like the Zonda F and the Koenigsegg CCR with just 530bhp. I guess you're right, Porsche really is the King of the 'Ring.
I think the Pilot Sport Cups also helped.

Are you sure it's currently available in the US? According to this article, it won't be until 2008 (possibly):

I get what you're saying though. Definitely not street legal.
That is what I am saying. I have talked with people who have owned a DTM and an Enzo and they claim the DTM is faster. It is ceirtanly faster than the 996 GT3 and on this list, it runs the same time, that's all. It should run a faster time IMO.
I noticed the test date and it was back in March 05 so it has to be the DTM (a hardcore version) instead of BS (wanna-be-hardcore version). Black series never made it to sub 8 seconds around Nordschleife. That car is heavy (even thought they call it lightweight
) with wrong physics regardless of 6.3L powerhouse underneath and tuned suspension. Anyway, nice post!Ok, no need to be rude. I have driven an CLK DTM on the track and I can tell you that in my opinion it feels just like any other CLK with lots of power and upgraded suspension and brakes. But it is still heavy (1750kg/3850lbs) therefor not very fast on the track.
But still, 7.54 was considered VERY fast in ´04...
See you guys at the ring next year.

Here list the times of CLK DTM and CLK BS.

I think it's all inclusive, shipping the car there and back, room and board, track rental.
Usually when I see a post of Ring times I'm not that happy....
This one's quite good.
Thing to keep in mind with the Nordschleife times:
- Fantastic track, really tells a lot of the car (still big power helps with lap times)
- It's best to compare the times of the same driver, of course a crazy racing driver or a test driver who has himself developed the car can do almost amazing time with a particular car. So those kind of times aren't that comparable. Forget "the fan boys on the internet"
- It's convenient to use Sport Auto's chief editor's Horst von Saurma's times
- Horst is a true Ring Guru but sometimes there's a bit problems with weather conditionds, or he could do only a couple laps with the car or there was some traffic (they usually don't drive on a 100% closed track). And of course the track is very long...
So my point when comparing the times:
- For two different cars: if the Sport Auto times are within, say, 5 seconds it's true and fair to say they are as fast
- Some cars are driven with semi slick tires (are they called R-compound or what in English
).
- Also if you compare some older times, keep in mind how much the whole tire technology has gone forward...which helps a lot better times.
Btw. I'ill keep you informed when I'm heading to Ring (need next year's touristenfahren schedule first.)

You know I can make some enquiries, and you could possibly do a week, where you do a couple of days at The Ring and a day at Spa. Manthey is also 2 min away from The Ring if any car issues also.
Could be a fantastic once in a lifetime trip!!!
It's all good. Scotty.

That would be awesome if you could. I dont know all of the details as of yet, the shop that works on my corvette is going and I just learned about it a week ago. I wouldnt go by myself, so it would either be with a group from here or somewhere or with the shop.
He was a little hesitant because I would be taking my Porsche and he wants to advertise this hard for his vette shop. But it would be me and one of his french customers who has a new GT2 coming ( 1 month before then straight to the green hell) that he's buying in france.
