Finetuning the handling of a track driven 996TT
Has this ever actually happened? I've done 25 heat cycles on on track tires more off than that and had no problems.
What was the diameter difference between your front and rears? I believe "996tt Stevo" had some issue with this

I have seen many VCs go bad with stock tire sizes as well. I have run one of my 4WD turbos for 2 years with completely mismatched sizes and it is still running flawlessly with the new owner. While tire sizes might accelerate or influence a failure, it is no different IMO than saying that running 1 Bar of boost damages your engine, "accelerates wear" is probably more accurate.

Which camber plate are you using
all above advise is spot on. 4 corner balance and camber plates will help.
I run -3.5 front and -2.5 rear. but this is a track driven only car. your set up is what we would consider a street set up.
Next real level up would be something like moton clubsport suspension.
Hopefully we will all run together over there in the not to distance future.
trying to set a a real road trip!!

Regarding the 'ring. I got to drive there this past September in a cool little race prepped BMW 318. It was light and very responsive, a kick to drive. It was perfect for me for first time on the track, as the power was not so much for me to fly off in any direction!
The 'ring is crazy, no other way to describe it. On track I passed a delivery van on about 1 1/2 wide tires, a van loaded with people, several little Renaults, a Peugeot or two, and was passed by a mad GT3 absolutely flat out, and a modified 996TT flying low. Our session was cut short when an older Porsche racer wiped out his bottom end somehow and oiled about a kilometer of track.
Also saw a motorcyclist down hard with emergency on the way to extract him. Go there with caution!

Hello Tom, you mentioned a hue camber, I m actually reaching my limits with the OEM @ 1.3 on front and going to order from Evoms new camber plates that will match my new Moton clubsport in the same setup...can you share your experience as well with the initial setup..thanks
rear GT3 sway middle setting
camber as I posted.
car runs and handles awesome!!!
As far as tire / wheel combos go, the Toyo RA1s, 245/40/18 & 335/30/18 fit on GT2 size wheels. Rear fenders need to be rolled and rear plastic fender liners need minor modification to prevent rubbing. I have -1.4' camber on the rears and they tuck in perfectly.
Kaizu,
Know Gaute from the Ring. Great guy and immensely fast.
I switched to GT2 from the CSL recently. I plan to hand it in the capable hands of Mr. Manthey for Nordschleife suspension tuning. Why bother experimenting, when you can get absolutely the best setup from them?
Hope to see you at the Ring this season.

Sounds great! Göte is indeed insanely fast
We should try to meet this spring there!
I agree with you about Manthey. If you want the best setup at the Ring, there's no other place to go...
Checked a theoretical lap time from my autumn trip 2007 with PerformanceBox data, 7.48 BTG would have been the best parts combined from a 4-lap session.

I suggest getting mono ball camber plates front and rear it will get rid of the deflection by going solid at the upper mounts. also if you are looking to increase camber look into changing out your lower arms with solid brass mounts. A good idea to change out the rear toe arms and upper solid control arms. this will transform your handling with a set of motons. mp!
Do you have driven in Estonia - Sauga-Audru Track?
If not, then mybe you can come 2 august International Porsche Track Day, Pärnu.
I try to be in Finland 25.07 Porsche track day in Ahvenisto
7:50 is very good time...I think you can easily beat Sauga record time for street car
