dgi exhaust and maxspeed exhaust 70mm

Hi.

How is the drone on the various affordable 70mm systems?

http://www.dgiindustries.com/page26.html

Any owners out there care to comment. Anyone go from TJW mod to one of these systems.

TIA.

Why am I asking....I may get a DGI system! Funny elf came into things with some unclaimed funds.....amazing stuff.

I have had (5) exhaust systems.

the DGI is the BEST COMBINATION of weight (lack of), Power (several cars have run some impressive times with this exhuast), sound (not as good as Europipe or UMW RACE,
but damn good and authoritative), Oh, did I mention it is less than half the cost of the
Europipe and half the cost of UMW race. So many factors to decide and it depends upon your goals, budget, tolerance for drone (DGI has a little like most, but not bad at all: My PSI Motorsport Loud and Quiet were far worse, EP2Q has less drone than DGI).

Good luck!

I have ordered the dgi/speedtech exhaust and am waiting for it to arrive. It sounds good on the video. I'll give you my feedback once i get it installed.

I have this exhaust as well. I love the sound over the Fabspeed LOUD. It is a more "tuned" sound. For the price you cant beat it! There are a few issues though. My fitment was a bit off. The passenger side hung a little lower the the drivers. Sharky noted this in one of his posts after installing this system. To fix this you need to notch out the holes a bit to turn it on the turbo. Also, the tips were off about 1" to far outboard. The cats in the system are 200 cell and not as large O.D. as I would like. The 100 cell larger O.D. cats will flow a lot better. I however cut the cats out as my ECU does not require them. When I cut it apart I did notice the cats were not aligned well (1/2" off) with the other piping which would cause a disruption in flow. FYI, I bought system off Ebay as "Maxspeed." I am not sure if the DGI system is from the same batch but they are identical.

Thanks.

It sounds fairly similar to mine, which is the DGI. Is it a split system? I'm very pleased with the overall quality, fit, finish and design of mine.

I have a Maxspeed. It sounds great, very classy. It is for sale. I sold the car I had it on for about 800 miles.

i had the DGI on my car. there was absolutely no resonance or drone on it. Now i have the europipe s2 quiet, which is certainly my favorite. But as several have noted, the europipe is a lot heavier and costs twice as much. i guess the pricing is by pound ;0

I read somewhere that the Maxspeed and DGI mufflers were inexpensive glasspack (fiberglassed filled) and would deteriorate quickly over time. Can anyone confirm or refute this? thanks

RG955TT, I can probably help with this question, as DGI/Speedtech is my company. The SpeedTech 996TT muffler is constructed with a single 70mm perforated pipe through the muffler for maximum flow - there are no baffles. The muffler section around the perforated pipe is packed with fiberglass, however, it does not break down quickly. I have had a test system in use for 2 years and over 20,000 miles and it is still as good as new and has even retained the mirror finish after all this use... In fact, it actually sounds better than new because like most exhausts, after a month or so of use they develop a better sound. Don't let the low price of the exhaust fool you. It is made of high quality mirror polished stainless steel and although considerably lighter than the OEM exhaust, it is a substantial piece with strong, exceptional quality welds, 70mm tubing throughout and beautiful 70mm chromed twin tips. So in answer to your queston - no, it does not break down quickly, it is designed and built to last.

Please provide the link to where you read this so we can set the idiot straight.

I have over 5K miles on mine now and it sounds great. The tone hasn't changed much since I first bought it and installed it, and the car has seen several track days since the instal, including an abusive day at the dragstrip where I pulled the front wheels off the ground, as seen in my avitar.

This system is the best system for me, and the only other system I'd consider, the Europipe2 Quiet is more than twice the price.

Just installed my speedtech system yesterday. The fitment was ok but the holes in the flanges could use a little relief so you could adjust the mufflers. My driver side was 3/4" lower than passenger side. Sound is quieter at idle than I expected and a little louder at 65 than I expected. I haven't had the purse squeezer in the car yet. My hope is that she won't notice the difference and if she does she won't ask how much I saved her.

Now that was funny!!!

Good luck, I really liked my DGI but my sly friend S-351 talked me out of selling it to him.
