Spring rate and coil over help
Spring rate and coil over help
I know I have a Boxster but you guys have helped me on a few other issues and research. I posted this on the Boxster section of the board with no opinions offered so here it is for you guys.
I have KSport coilovers on my car 90% of the time I love them. The rest of the time they are just too hard. Tonight I was on the highway going a little over 80 and a bump in the highway made me hit my head on the roof of my car. No seatbelt on but that was a reminder to put it back on.
I looked into my options a few months ago but let it fall behind other projects. But, after tonight this is back on top of the list.
The Ksports run 300 pound springs in the front and 500 in the rear.
My options are to run softer springs. Most companies run 200ish on the front and 250ish on the rear. My other option is to purchase "helper springs" these normally come with my kit but did not.
The reason I ask this question instead of just installing the helper springs is that I only want to take the car apart one time.
What are your opinions of what I should do? Lower the spring rate with new springs or add the helper springs?
Thanks for all your help.
Gary

Hi Gary, The helper springs gave me wheel hop in the rear and I like the ride w/out them (PSS9) is your car low? maybe bottoming the shock? You can adjust this on JIC/cross but not on PSS9s not sure on your set up. Hope this helps, Tim
