I have read a lot about this topic, esp in BMW forums where maintanance is covered by the delaer initially, so naturally now the cars don't need as frequent an oil change. Funny, how my Navigator goes in every 3K miles, while the M5 doesn't need to go in for 15K miles.

There is no consensus, but among BMW owners, most recommend every 5K miles.
