anyone with a police scanner ?
Not going to reply by fear of you not agree-ing with what I have to say and then I might be told I was "flaming"....
I don't think anything anyone can say in oposition without an "off-topic" situation breaking out....
I'd just like to say OFF-TOPIC and move right along 145 in the fastlane...

the MAIN reason for the scanner is that sometimes we have "outtings" on jones beach.. which is about 10 miles, 2 lanes wide.. 0 cars after midnight, and plenty of straights...
i would never speed on streets.. thats just risky (not so much for a ticket, but for other variables, people, etc)

Ummmm.....what good is a scanner going to do you? They call in your license either as they're following you or AFTER they stop you and before they get out of the car....A scanner would be an investment in post mortem strategy. Why don't you just watch your rear view mirror? Or drive within the limit? Or pay the ticket when you get it.
I'm not condoning excessive speeds on public highways, but please!!!!!??
I've worked for one District Attorney's Office and two city prosecutor's offices and will tell you the marginal speeder's are municipalities' meal tickets. The irony is that the excessive speeders are usually restricted from high speed chases and dispatch will not authorize chase, so those typically are not even prosecuted. So, it's my opinion that the random, good, law abiding citizen that get's screwed. Why? Because, we're the ones who care and will stop. That sporadic burst of speed when no one else is around and not reckless doesn't hurt anyone.More power to anyone who tries to avoid traffice stops, scanners. laser diffusers or radar detecters. Standard speed stops are modern day extortion and NOTHING MORE. Anyone who thinks differently is fooling themselves.
