You just can not compare a 996 TT with mods with a flashed 2005 996 Turbo S. The Turbo S is a much better performing car. I have yet to see any modified Turbo pull my Turbo S Cab (yes, a cab that weights 300+ pounds more than a coupe). I have no idea why my Turbo S is so fast but I have raced several 997 TT’s and was able to maintain a 1 car length lead through 3rd gear.

I was offered a 2005 TTS coupe last year for $92K by private seller. White, 14,500 miles. I passed on it. Had itch for a GT2 at the time. 996 TTS needs a pretty big $ gap from 997TT in IMHO.

^ I sort of agree with the Dr. I'd say 90 would be a good deal for you and 95 would be fair for this particular car.

That car is absoluetly cherry....but 99K is GT2 money.

However, the X 50 w/ ceramic brakes is the next best thing. The beauty of the X 50 and the GT2 is that you are only a flash and exhaust from a truly bad *** car.

Hey roc, I just sent you another PM with the info I could find about when i looked at the car.

And yeah, Jag and I bought within weeks of one another. Almost mirror image cars. The funny thing is that beyond this red one and the one I actually bought, his car was the other car that I was really close on.

Is it actually certified? When I looked at it, it wasn't. There was still factory warranty on it until about late 2008 I think, but it wasn't certified. maybe they got it certified in the interim?? Double check that they don't just mean balance of factory warranty.......

I thought that all 2005 Turbo S's had ceramic brakes and the X 50 package included as part of the std package.

I agree with you on how fast a Turbo S can be. Since I had a chance to own both a bone stock 2003 996TT X50 Coupe w/Tip and a bone stock 2005 996 Turbo S Cab w/Tip I can in confidence tell you the difference is like day and night. My X50 stock drove and handled nowhere near my Turbo S. I was also confused about it until I got my engine and transmission numbers decoded at Renntech.org. According the decoded numbers my Turbo S pulled out of factory with 360 KW (or about 483 HP), about 33 HP more than what Porsche states on these cars. It is like having already flashed X50 directly from Porsche.

this is very interesting to know. I always thought X50 and S is pretty much the same, same engine, turbo, ecu program and stuff

Great car but I have to agree , the asking price is too much $$$$. Thats a GT2 price range and you cant compare the two. I guess its worth what someone is willing to pay.If you like it and its perfect for you is the 5-7 K worth loosing the car?

Are you sure that there is a difference between the Turbo S and X 50 (other than anecdotal evidence)?

Do you guys mean, 02 or 03 Gt2 Money? RocC4S may want a 911 that still has the original factory warranty, in addition the older GT2's had gen 1 pccb brakes compared to the gen 2 pccb brakes on the turbo S that are less prone to cracking. There are advantages both ways I agree, just depending on what you want.

Wow, a lot of action since yesterday. Havent had a chance to check...

Thanks for all your help Superfly!

If you look at the ad, there is an oval pre-owned certified emblem to the right.

Aha, you're right! Well, had it been a CPO car last summer, you might not have been looking at it this spring! Good luck in your negotiations!
