another 'daily driver' question

Those of you who have or have owned luxury/sport sedans (E-class, RS6, et al), how do you compare them with your TT as a daily driver?

I'm wondering if the E500 could be replaced well with the 911 turbo. I'm concerned it won't be very comfortable on the freeway (I don't drive on the freeway much, sort of sporadically, and when I do it's about 60 miles each way, usually in traffic). I'm sure it won't be AS comfy as the E500, but then again, it's a different car. I know when driving the Boxster on the freeway I get out with a bit of a kink in my back. It's not unbearable, but it's not the ultra-luxe E-class. I rarely take people in my car, as we use my wife's A6 for that most often (as the baby has to come with), and no sedan really is comparable with the TT. The RS6 is a hell of a car, but it's no TT, same with the Cayenne turbo.

I'd love to keep the Boxster and have the top-down roadster, yet I can't keep myself from lusting after the TT, so I'd replace the E500 with the TT, theoretically...

thoughts? please?

Don't punish yourself with something that you lust after but miss the comfort. I love a stiff ride and like most on this site have stiffened up our suspensions considerably. We like that. If comfort is an issue, have you considered the Aston Martin or the Ferrari 464 550 or 575 Marenello? I just rode in a 575 champagne color and it was very smooth and very quick in a straight line and quite comfortable. I would recommend that you not get the challenge seats from a comfort standpoint. If you can't wait for the Porsche TT V-8 sedan coupe, what about a used Cayenne TT--you can get a great deal on those.

yeah, the Aston Martin is a really strong consideration, actually, but it's not a TT. The SL is boring to me, and I'm far too young for the typical owner of one of those in S. Cal, which is mostly middle age business owners. Also, you've had 2 with blown engines OKHJOON190, so that's not exactly a vote of confidence.

Are you both saying the TT is not a comfortable ride for, say, 60 miles on the freeway? As long as it is between the Boxster and my E500, I'll be happy.

I had a Chevy Chevette and a Datsun/Nissan (it was both at the time) Stanza. Oh well, at least I have my Porsche now!

take it easy man...
I think a TT is fine for a dialy driver especially with the great roads in CA...If you were on the East, different story...
Also, the stock suspension is not that rough....definitely no E class but comfortable...

Oh, I wasn't being a ***** - I promise. I think it's great that you guys have those cars at your age. My daughter won't be driving any Chevettes, that's for sure! At least she'll benefit from some family $$.

msindi - have you been in a Boxster much? If so, how would you compare the ride on fairly long trips?

I know what you mean... I am able to benefit from my father... when he was a kid, his family did not even have a car, it was not untill he was in the US and in his early 20's when he got a Chevy Nova that had no windows, no reverse gear, and no floor board... we still make fun of him today for it

sounds like your trying to compare apples with oranges. for 60 mile trips everyday, your damn right i would be driving the e class, E-55 so you can at least have the same straight line power as the TT. the tt would not be a daily drive for me at 32 and my lower back problems from downhill biking and skateboarding days, if i were in my mid 20's it would be my daily driver since my priority's where different, it's all about the rush and the glam. a boxster is a cool cruiser for the weekends and that should be enough since your married, but then again p-car owners more likely to be cheating on the spouses according to some stupid write up. by the way i too am self made, but would have rather fell in to nepitism. god knows my kids will if i don't go bankrupt.

Self made but money is money.

TT is the car for me in this stage of my life. I honestly think I'll have one in the garage for the rest of my life.

E500 is a good choice for the longer trips. E55 if you can swing it.
