just got scewed on 01tt purchase
Ask a lawyer about something called "reasonable expectation" and "fitness for intended use" My opinion is you would win a judgement in small claims for this. If it went out ina week, or a month maybe different, but barely making it home....
This dealer is a piece and I'd make sure everyone knows it. If the car doesn't even make the trip home they still could make some effort to be very fair with you, perhaps doing the job at cost or splitting it since you'd have a new clutch etc. It doesn't sound like they really want to do anything since they have your money.

if you like the car keep it and get their manager to cut you a check for the work necessary. if you financed it that paperwork takes a while to "bake" so you'd easily unwind such a deal, generally speaking. otherwise, upgrade the clutch+LWFW since the clutch would have BLOWN immediately after a simple FLASH+EXHAUST anyways.
let us know what you end up getting out of the dealer on this. there should be some room for them to pay the clutch repair but if not, and I have said this many times on this forum and others.... $1,500.00 is a rounding error in terms of maintenance for these cars.
it will definitely not be the last $1,500.00 bill you have related to your car this year.
sucks it had to happen this way, but it's the first of many unexpected costs associated with these cars.
your "lawyer" will cost more than the clutch and probably several hours of additional BS (what's your time worth?) while trying to get a free clutch (which you're probably entitled to) but it's just not worth the trouble, generally.

If I was buying a used car, esp an expensive one,, I d ask to take it out for a few hours and really put it through the paces.
If the dealer said NO,, i wouldnt buy it.
I hope you drove it hard before committing?

thnx for feedback...still feel like s&*t. Dealer told me $3k to do the clutch replace he was splitting with me (22 hours in labor)
Yes lesson learned not to trust and also to do PPI, but thats history.
Already has tubi on it...Please let me know which clutch kit to get and lwfw (what is that flywheel?) as I was just going to get the OEM which costs $839 plus labor...I will be flashing ECU and more down the road but not over 650bhp as too many internals need to be done at that point, or at least used to back in 03.
thnx again

They'll Fed-Ex the parts to you. They're VERY reasonable price wise, and you will
have a VERY rev-happy Turbo.
You may also speak with Kevin Matwichuk at 360-805-9066 e-mail kevin@ultimatemotorwerks.com who sources the parts directly from Porsche and has an excellent reputation.
They will BOTH tell you that you'd be BONKERS for not doing the GT3RS clutch/pressure plate which will hold 700HP and the Lightweight Flywheel.
I have no monetary interest in their business but I have received excellent service and parts from both.

You get 72 hours to rescind any car deal, but in your case a sold trade-in complicates everything.
Honestly, since you didn't get an inspection, its on you...........
On the new clutch front, don't get a stock unit - it won't even survive a flash, go with a 600 hp rated clutch.
On the LWFW, they're not for everybody. Easy to stall, hard to rev match....I see guys struggle with it. Several top tuners don't recommend them.

Well, IANAL, but it sounds like you might have grounds to go after them, as it seems like it had the problem when you bought it.
Try to look on the bright side, in the grand scheme of things, it could have been a lot worse than a clutch! I too have made the mistake of not doing a PPI, and definitely won't ever again.

The more I stay on this forum the more sense it makes to get a PPI or a strong warranty. I consider myself lucky in having bought a couple of cars with no PPI and generally finding no bad surprises. Of course I have sold cars to buyers who did not inspect as well. No one has come back with complaints yet.
