Not pleasant, but on Turbos as you know, everything happens FASTER.

Consider it an opportunity to improve the driveability and responsiveness of the car. You'll need to have a new clutch assembly anyway, and probably a new slave cylinder (common problem) and ESPECIALLY if you plan to flash the car.

Consider it the cost of "doing business" and just be happy to have a new (stronger) clutch with a killer LWFW combination.

$1,500.00 is nothing by comparison to the speeding tickets that you might acquire in the next several months. (LOL)
Same thing happened to me. i just ate it and upgraded...I probably wouldnt let them replace the clutch though. you can do it for $1500 or so with a lwfw cant you?

Yes lesson learned not to trust and also to do PPI, but thats history.

Already has tubi on it...Please let me know which clutch kit to get and lwfw (what is that flywheel?) as I was just going to get the OEM which costs $839 plus labor...I will be flashing ECU and more down the road but not over 650bhp as too many internals need to be done at that point, or at least used to back in 03.

thnx again
22 hours in labor is not what you should be paying. Ill check later, but i know i didnt pay anywhere close to that.

Custom Motors of South Florida

Is the name of the dealership. Couldnt disclose prior to talking to lawyer but owner wouldnt change his mind. Additional misrepesentations includes one owner pampered miles, when in fact multiple owners.

Ill have my tech team set up website and use "freedom of speach" rights to help inform others as well as other online marketing techniques...lesson learned

So what did the lawyer say?

I am always annoyed when people refer to used car salesman, and their facilities as "dealers".... you can take a turd and polish it up, but it is still shiny ****. They may sell expensive used cars, but they are still used car scum. Indeed, unlike a private party, the used car shop has more skill and guile at deceiving you...as you are discovering.

I agree with the suggestions to put everything in writing, certified, then take them to small claims. (Build your case logically- no need for extensive atty fees- for example your wife could testify that she was following you in the minivan and never went over xx mph. In small claims the judge often just decides who he believes more....)

Good Luck

It's unfortunate that the entire car sales industry is littered with these practices. It's the culture of the business. Honest, straight people are the oddity as opposed to the norm and usually don't make it for long.

Yup, all you can do is get a PPI and hope for the best. Generally, once you sign and drive, you have ZERO recourse.

I am a car dealer(Toyota) so I know its easy to always blame the dealer...That being said thats why I always tell people to deal with a Factory dealer. He has a much bigger investment and would have probobly never let the car on the lot with a bad clutch and if he did have a problem he would have worked with you to fix it. At this point I would. Request a copy of the inspection they did when they serviced it before selling to you. From that inspection you can see the state of the clutch. Obviously if it was bad already you have a way to go. If the clutch was new then...you have a bit of a problem. If you had bought from me and I had just replaced the clutch I would still offer you some kind of deal...to keep you happy...thats the problem with the independants...you get a bit of a better deal but then your on your own....I bought my 02 from a dealer AND got the warrenty....Finally if you got a great deal you might just consider sucking it up replacing the clutch and moving on...chances are if he had replaced it before selling it you would have paid more anyway...
Good Luck

Ard, Ari...before painting a whole industry you should think about what you are saying....actually it is RARE to see a dealer conducting business unethically....and we many times go above and beyond to take car of unreasonable customers. I have been doing this for over 20 years and I sleep very well at night...

You are a dealer.

He bought it from a Used Car Lot.

I was trying to make a distinction- In my mind, a "dealership" (or a dealer) is reserved for those that have a license by the manufacture to represent a particular marque or manufacturer. They have more to loose as you point out.

There seems to be a proliferation of "high end luxury performance car dealerships" that are nothing more than used car lots with roofs, walls and espresso machines... people drop their guard since they see $50-100k cars all over, not $5k junkers, and they think "this looks like a Mercedes dealership"...

I'll withhold judgment on dealerships as a class- I've seen good and bad- but the rest are used car salesmen, and should be treated as such- unless they've proven themselves to you personally.

My two cents

When I bought my car from a "used car dealer" there were a couple of examples of not revealing full condition and then an attempt to pad the shipping cost for another $100 into the "used car dealers" pocket. My research on the car had uncovered most issues, and I averted the shipping gouge by going directly to the shipper. Point is I fully expect these types of used car dealers to play customers for whatever they can get. It is so easy to be blinded by the shine on an exotic car in a showroom. We buyers need to be demanding, suspicious, and persistent with inspections and contract language. I do hold the OEM dealers in somewhat higher regard.

My ultimate goal is that people can learn from my mistake of trusting several misrepresentations and always getting a used car PPI from shady dealers/used carsalesman

My attny said just report to bbb and hell do small claims court even though sold as is, there were several material misrepresentations.

-Car had five owners not 1 owner pampered 30k miles as advertised
-horn doesnt work
-allignment off
-hose leaks (fixed with new clutch)
-spoiler light malfunction
-all copies of service records (nope..he has a service person from champion moonlight there)

Had my tech team put a quick web site www.custommotorssouthflorida.com

My last 5 cars were all new so now I learned if ever buying another used car! thnx for allthe input

I'm totally with you, never **** off a web developer, especially when you don't own the obvious form of your domain name:

http://encore-exotics.com/

I took 10 minutes out of my day to describe the basics of the ordeal I had with a user car lot. I'm sure with a little work I could get it to be the first result when searching for his company name.

If it makes you feel any better, I was considering buying myself a 996 Turbo from Custom Motors of South Florida - they seemed to have a good selection to choose from, and seemed to give off a "good vibe".

Not considering it anymore after your ordeal.

So I thank you for posting your account, you have saved me a headache.

Now I just need to find a new car to salivate over!

Be reasonable with them even if they are not being reasonable with you.

But that said...go get 'em!

Good luck.
