996tt X50 for 75k or less??
I paid $65K for an X50 39K mi. with Aero Kit and SS interior package ($153K MSRP new).
I've heard that you should be careful about garage queen cars. I was at the dealer last week (buying a $300 spare key) and the service manager told me that most of the engine failures they see are 4-5 year old cars with less than 15K mi.. He suggested to look for cars that have seen 6K - 8K mi. / year.
Anyone else hear this?

^interesting comment about the garage queens, I'm curious to hear what others say or have heard...
I am looking for roughly 30k - 40k miles or less and expect that will be on a 2001 - 2003, so hopefully that will have gotten through all the major problems and recalls in that amount of mileage.

I bought mine with 19K miles on it. The only thing that really failed was one rear strut and a radiator hose. In reading this and other forums I've heard the comments for and against cars with low mileage as well as "high mileage" on them....although I really don't know what the threshold is for high mileage on a 996TT that's got a reputation for being "bulletproof". It stands to reason that a car that isn't driven but a few thousand miles over the years might have seals that harden and dry up....connections that corrorde, wiring that becomes brittle, and vacuum lines that crack and leak....but these 996TT's are very well built, and I would think that a car driven in the vicinity of 15-25K miles should have enough life's blood pumped through its veins to sustain those parts subject to degradadion without major failures. I personally wouldn't be afraid of an 02 or 03 that had 3 to 4K miles driven on it every year provided that maintenance records supported regular attention. I dont' think that you would need one that had been driven 30 or 40K in order to feel more confident about its longevity than one that had only been driven 15 or 20K. Now if you're talking about my 87 930...that's another matter...
