996tt as a daily driver?
DD here for a few years now ... 996TT X50 ... that is not UMW equipped
I go through my rear tires though ...
I had an E46 M3 as one of my cars before the 996TT as well ... hmm my thoughts ... M3 seats are better ... M3 steering wheel is better ... M3 rear seats I miss ... M3 trunk room ... hmmm, what else, I think that's about it LOL

I have '03 996tt with Evo Stage 4 and used it as a daily driver. Its not the best dd if you want some kind of comfort and want to use your cellphone. Its not the HP, its the suspension and exhaust that make dd a bit rough. I have JIC coilovers, sway bar, etc, running on 19's with 25 series tires. Its a frickin' rough rider!! You feel every crack in the street and my stock seats are not comfortable. I would say its a kick *** car to drive, but its loud, stiff and uncomfortable....perfect in my opinion, but i don't drive it everyday anymore
The car was a perfect daily driver when it was stock.

EDIT:
I got JIC Cross suspenion 8/12 and love them DD. Went with Dan's stage III kit plus front sway and ap links....and per his suggestion, it is just fine as a dd when set at soft plus 2 clicks. Full hard: track car. Simple. Not the cheapest but also super capable and not the most expensive. This on wonderful car with exhaust, dv', etc. So, you can have your cake and eat it to with these cars.
FYI.

I have bluetooth via my avicD3, xm traffic, ipod with video....calls come in, not problem. Windows pocket pc....voice controlled dialing.
I have stock suspension...no issues. LWFW/UMW tune/no issues either. I like it so much.
Track suspension is tough every day.....given I don't do track that often.....it is staying "DD-able" in my mind for a long time. If I went fancy, it would get the softest setting, etc..... What would be cool is adjustable suspenstion that could do it all....as comfortable as stock on the road every day if you wanted and hard like a hardcore track car if you wanted it that way too....for 2k or less too. :-)

Yes, I did a search. Found the whole 996tt vs e46 m3 threads, etc. But nothing really addressed using a modded 996tt as a daily driver. I think I saw one guy say he has/had used his as a DD.
I am considering putting a HPF stage 2 turbo kit on my M3, or getting a nice 01-02 996tt with low/mid miles (30-50k) and upgrading that to 600-700hp. I spent 30k on my M3 and can do the HPF kit for 22k installed including clutch. Done deal.
Or, I can get a 01 996tt for 45k and throw 20k into that and have almost as much hp as the stage 2 M3.
And yes I would like to DD one of these cars. Call me crazy. If it got too crazy, I could buy a more tame DD if need be.
So, the question is: how many of you guys DD your modded 996tt, and how has your experience been? Or why wouldn't you if you choose not to?
Thanks, and sorry for the length. I'm new here.

just keep in mind that you will need to hire a decent attorney for the tickets. great to drive, durable to drive, but with 600hp+ on tap, you will have to be careful since these cars do attract more attention from the authorities.
i drive mine everyday
and its a stage 4, with stoptech brakes, JIC suspension, and wheels, and a bunch of other stuff..
i love it..
i have to watch the roads more, but i did the same with my previous audi, so its all good

Very good point. It's easy to get up to a much higher speed than you think you are going and the car does attract a lot more attention from the authorities. Watch your speed, especially on the highways.
Careful with the jammer. It is illegal in most states. I would stick with a plain detector. Valentine and Passport are two of the brands I would look at.
The M3 is a high reviving, high compression engine like the GT3 its not designed for high boost, so if your going to go for high HP its counterproductive. As Marksi says you'll end up wanting the 996 turbo later anyway. There so many retarded deals right now on already upgraded turbos go check out the for sale section. You can get one with 600-700HP for 25 cents on the dollar or less for the mods. Personally I love the techart GT kits.
I daily drive my 03 but its only Stage 2. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to upgrade to 16/16g (for 600max) or something with 650-700 potential.. decisions.. decisions..

I also find it funny that people base their car purchasing around modding extensively? Over the years you will realize it just isn't worth it, i'll tell you this, the 996TT will be 100x more drivable at 600 hp level then an M3, this is from experience and I had under 600 hp with no traction what so ever!
