exhaust for 996tt
kcphuahJohn, any idea how much hp gain can be achieved with this exhaust? And also, which header would you suggest to go with your speedtech exhaust?
One of our fellow members just dynoed his K16/16G car this week - he did same day, same dyno, same temp for the stock exhaust and then the SpeedTech exhaust immediately after. Frankly, the improvement was more than I expected and everyone was extremely pleased with the results. The Speedtech exhaust began to make more power from approx. 2,000 RPM's. By 3,500 RPM's the increase was about 25 HP and stayed fairly even at 25 HP until 6,200 RPM's where the increase shot to a 41 HP gain until redline (This demonstrates how the 70mm tubing makes more power than OEM sizing, especially up top).
As for headers, I do have SpeedTech headers available, but personally, I have chosen to run ported OEM headers, as they are up out of the way and many people end up bottoming out on aftermarket headers, which I am not interested in doing, as it could lead to other damage. The OEM headers have proven to be extremely competitive at the 700 HP level.

John, thanks for the info. Looking at the other threads, can you please tell me if maxspeed exhaust off ebay the same or very similar to your speedtech? Aesthetically, they almost look alike.
I actually had a couple guys complain at the track that my exhaust sounds to "quiet"...

An example, as when passing other guys with much louder systems...
Personally I think this system is the best system out there for $3500... And it's cost is $2000. John's system DOES NOT DRONE, makes TONS MORE POWER, and is a great looking, lightweight system. I had two other systems on my car and both gave me headaches. John's system has not of that... It's more "sporty" sounding, with a deep growl when you get on it, but very mellow and uninstrusive when cruising in that critical 2-3K range.
Best money I've spent yet on my 996TT, hands down.

And this dyno sheet proves that John's 200Cell cats lose you nothing. Show me another system that's giving 41HP total gain on a modified car compared to stock? This is a true "first" for me... One hell of a product John! BRAVO!

41 peak hp is an impressive gain for an exhaust system. Do you think there would be a similar gain with k16 turbo's and a flash only? I think my speedtech exhaust is great, but i figured it would be good for 20-25 hp (not 40 hp!). I'm just wondering if the bigger tubing in this exhaust is more beneficial to cars with more hp (>550).
