Rear Seat Weight

I have just removed the rear seats. The total weight is 9,630.5 grams, or 21.23 lbs. This includes the seat backs, bottoms, and hardware, not including the rear seat belts.

Have you weighed your car lately on accurate scales (like four pad racing scales)?

Tim,
Please post the weight of the rear belts and the removal procedure. I don't think it is anything difficult but the knowledge going in is always a plus.

Also, does anyone have a part number for the presumably GT2 trim piece to replace the TT slotted trim piece for the rear belts once they are removed?

Tim,
I removed subwoofer, rear seat and rear wiper for a loss of approx. 37 pounds. Beside replacing rear tail, battery, removing sound insulation (and changing rear glass to plexiglass???) what else can be removed?
Which exhaust did you decide on and why? (sound? power? weight?) TIA Rob
KPV I found this part numer listed from the "other" forum: Rear seat delete kit 000-044-801-63

Ken; there is no part number for those. If you look it up you get the same # as the TT or 996... with the slots. You need to have a local shop just cover your set with matching leather. Or call S-Car-Go (they did Chad's set first and he posted pics, etc. some time back). They did a new set in GG for me. I don't recall the price but they were darn affordable as I recall.

The "delete" kit does not involve the parts that Ken was asking about, but he may want it also.

Bigsky:

Just bought a Stage 4 with the Fabspeed quiet I think. I'll try it in a few weeks. General agreement that nobody makes more power and is lighter than Fabspeed straight pipes. (FVD with their programing maybe). Just need to see if I can handle the resonance.

There is not a lot more easy stuff after what you listed. Even pulling the glass is a little severe for most of us. You might want to look at a cf hood. Do a search, KPV has done it.

Tim,
Thanks for the reply. Changing the rear glass is probably to severe for me at this time.
Please keep us posted on the Fabspeed. Do you intend to run the quiet on the street and the straight pipes on the track?
I have followed KPV's progress but keep hoping that someone will come up with the magic weight loss diet for the 996tt.

Exactly, that is why I want the fabspeed, straight pipes for the track! I think I have the quite coming but I probably would have done the super sport loud. I hjope I can deal with the resonance on the street.

Chad, check some of your weights.

The wiper, blade, motor, screw, and rubber grommet (everything you get to remove) weighs a total of 1,721.0 grams, or only 3.8 lbs.

The rear seats only weigh 21 lbs so that means the rear belts weight 16 lbs? Maybe (haven't pulled them ... yet), but that sounds high.

sharkster,

The Rues SST system is designed so the two amps which are located where the spare tire was can be unclipped and removed in seconds. The rest of the Reus System really doesn't have any additional weight to speak of.

Oh, and I forgot about the clutch and single mass flywheel. We lost about fifty pounds there.

Oh that's right, I remember you showing me that way back. I just figured the speakers would weigh more than stock (better speakers have heavy magnets).

PS I've got that stuff for you for the bumper
