On a collision course with a TT

I always thought I'd keep my 996 C2 for a long time, but I don't think I can do without the power anymore...I should have never driven that damn TT a few months ago. I'm thinking with the TT market (P cars in general) so soft that I probably need to start a serious search. I was going to wait for the 997, maybe I still should, but the power of a TT is hard to deny. I also flirted with the thought of a GT3, but I need the rear seats, that's non-negotiable.
So I'm looking for a low miles '02 or a very nice '01. All I want is Black or Silver, sport seats, possibly an X50 6 speed car. A pretty basic TT that I plan on adding a Fabspeed (quiet version) exhaust. I'm hoping to find a car for less than $90K by the end of the year. I'll also need to sell my C2 of course, I wonder how much I can get (''00- 6 speed/PSM/ROW 030/ PSE/AS/SG)? I'm hoping around $50K...

TDY is infamous around these parts
DJ - do it! you've got the fever, it's too late anyway :)

would you be interested in a new '03, silver/black, 6spd, msrp $118.5 (pretty much base). i think i could get it for invoice which i believe is around $103k... not a great price but not bad for new.

ps - need to have another sat morning exhaust session soon!

doug - if you think your c2 won't fetch much, why not mod it instead of taking the depreciation hit plus the larger outlay? instead of a $35K to $60K spread you could pump $10K into the c2 and get some bump to it, right? undo the mods when you trade it on the 997tt.

just a thought.

i had a c2 cab and bought a tt 'cuz i wanted the power. in the end i probably could have been happy with modding the c2 cab though, and it would have been a LOT cheaper than depreciation on two cars plus the upcharge for the tt over the c2 cab.

doody.

TDY, that TT sounds interesting ...but I don't want to spend more than 90K.

Doody, that's a good thought, if you could get another 75-80 hp it would be perfect, but I don't think porsche left that much on the table so to speak.

There were a number of '01's in last weeks Autoweek classifieds asking in the high 80's. I think you would be better off spending a few more bucks to get a low-mileage '02 or spending the same for an '02 with slightly higher mileage. From what I've observed there isn't a big $ penalty for a 10,000 mile swing on late model cars, usually $5000 or less.

Every month I get PML (Porsche Marketing Letter) - it's a compilation of 1,000s of Porsche ads from across the country. I can keep track of the value of my car as it depreciates. If you can't find the URL, let me know and I'll dig out my last issue

My recommendation would be to gut it out a year and pick up a low mile used cab if you like soft tops.
