Tip owners...please help!

I have an o1 TT with 15" Brembo brakes, I've only had these brakes for about 6 months. And since two months ago the brakes started to squeal whenever I did rolling stops (under 20mph), the technicians at By Design checked several times and couldn't find the problem (both the pads and rotors are still in good condition). So finally today a specialist from Brembo stopped by the shop to check on the car, he then concluded that this is normal among tip cars cuz we don't use the transmission to stop the car. And he recommended to replace the pads with softer ones to minimize the squeal. Does any of you tip owners have the same problem? Your input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

first of all, who says we don't stop the car with the transmission???? I downshift the TIP just like I used to do with a stick. As long as I am in manual mode and below the red line, the transmission slows the car down.

Having said that, I haven't experienced any squeal with the brakes.

Thanks for the input, do you have the stock brakes or upgraded ones?

I have had this problem with the stock brakes, I don't know about Brembos. The porsche tech told me to slam on the brakes a couple times hard. This has gotten rid of the squealing noise. The squealing noise comes from lightly using the brakes. Hope this helps.

Er... brake pads that are basically "race pads" on these Brembo systems WILL always squeel until they are warmed up. They are designed to be used HARD on the track and then they stop squeeling. You don't warm them up on the street (not unless you drive hard as hell) usually. The only fix it to go to softer compound pads. They are easy to swap. I believe Jamie from Brembo said they have pads that don't squeel.

Thanks guys for all your help. Yes, it was Jamie from Brembo who dropped by the shop yesterday, and he replaced with the soft pads...I'll test it this weekend to see if the squealing is still there. And I think you guys are right...I'm gonna have to really USE these brakes up to their potential!

Alex, will definitely keep you posted with what happens this weekend!

On a different subject, are you familiar with the JRZ suspension system? I'm not really happy with the JIC set-up I have right now, was thinking about Moton Club Sport...but was told by the shop that JRZ is the best i the market right now?

CJV's JRZ's are increadible. But then again so are Bob's Moton's. It just depends on how well they are set up I guess. They are both light years better than the traditional coil overs- that's true. Expensive but worth it if you track the car.

Thanks Alex, I think I'll go with JRZ...I do plan to track the car so I guess it'd be worth the investment. I've also heard about the Penske system...but I think that's a little on the hard core side. Is the JRZ fairly durable and reliable?

I would ask CJV about his JRZ's. The maintenance required etc... Once you step away from traditional coil overs and have more and more adjustments you need to know what you're getting into

Alex, just wanna let you know that the soft pads replaced by Jamie from Brembo are working beautifully...no more squealing and no compromise on the braking performance either.
