Can someone elaborate on what these "extensive modifications" required are?

Aren't the GT28 turbos what come with the evoms gt700 kit?

thanks

too many things too list... and different tuners approach it differently....
spend some time go online...do some searches on the build outs... it's all here...
There are so many different options for the motor work that one would have write a book about it. From the different HP kits to to different tuners to different motor builds, heads, cams, rods, Turbos- water cooled vs non water cooled... etc etc etc....

Fair enough. And trust me - I am researching as much of this stuff as I can in a short period of time! One reason why I am interested in feedback here is because I am negotiating for a 01 996tt with quite a few mods, but it has stock turbos - and that apparently is the next thing to be upgraded with the current mods on the car:

Evolution motorsports GIAC stage 2 ECU
EVOMS V-Flow air intake
Billet diverter valves
Fabspeed Maxflo sport exhaust

Sorry for the hijack, but I think my situation is relevant to the post and can be a useful real example of what turbo to upgrade to. I am looking for 650-700hp at crank and to retain daily drivability.

thanks

P.S. I plan on making a trip to Sharkwerks locally this week to consult those guys. But good info is all over this site as well I have found already!

To go from where the car sits and to a Evoms gt700 you will end up spending 25K installed. If ur willing to do that then it really doesnt matter what the car has... if ur not then look online and pick up Sonny's gt 700 ready to rock and roll... thats just my opinion...

OR- keep what the car has ad leave it at that.... because anything after 600 HP becomes 3 times as expensive to do becasue so much more is involved .

I was under the impression I could upgrade the turbos and get a new tune and be around 500-550whp (this car currently dyno'ed at 448whp with the Evoms Stage 2). Guess not... hmm...

Saw the gt700 car for sale. Sweet car but I am looking for the seal gray color.

thanks for the help.

If you track your car....more power is not a great thing until you are super smooth.

Trust me.

560hp 560tq is a handful.....

Ha, you're probably right with that statement. Even though I don't plan to track this car. This is going to be my daily driver and i'll just start with the power it has (if I get this one I am negotiating for). Gonna go Sharkwerks next week.

My car with k16s,reflash,BMc filter and REMUS exhaust was dynoed at 530crankhp.The peak power occured at 4250rpm and stayed there until 5300 where it starts fadind to 490 at 6800...i plan to install hybrids k16/24.does anyone know(mark) if at high RPM i will gain hp?(or keep the hp stable at least)i love the way the car accelerates,I just want some more power, nothing else...Also I believe I will spool faster,as written here...am I wrong?

Peak @ 4250rpm?? I thought about 4000rpm is right around where full boost comes on? hmm.. doesn't sound right to me.

Sounds about right for K16's. The boost comes on fast, but runs out of steam above 5,500 rpm.

Do a search for stock or tuned K16 dyno graphs and you will see how the curve falls off pretty quick in the higher rpm band.
