Its true, the TT gives no warning when the plugs die!

I just wanted to share my experience tonight with my TT, The car has been sitting for a while. So today its nice here so I decide to take out the car for a blast, I miss that power. So getting back to my point I took the car out this morning and the car is running great! I park the car and had some minor mods to do, ( Door Sills and DV's ) so a few hours later I go and try it...what do you know it studders like a ***** and the CEL comes on.It needs plugs!
So I just wanted you all to know, these cars give no warning when the plugs die!.SON of a *****.Well back to the garage! SO for some of you who will have the same issue.....dont worry it's just plugs

Actually it sounds like it may be a leak....are you sure the DV's were installed properly? Get the codes read...plugs seldom throw a CEL.

They can throw a flashing CEL that goes away after a bit.

No codes to read, the CEL comes on and " Drive to garage" then after 30 seconds of normal driving the light comes off, with no codes. I triple checked for leaks. SO you really think it's a leak? The car idols fine and if your not into heavy boost they are no issues,

could be:

1-a vacuum line pinched near the DV's... very tight in there...
2-maybe you put em (DV's) in reverse side in.... (can happen)....
it may also be bottom of the MAF housing that wasnt placed in right when re installing the whole unit...
then again .... my car started to shutter out of no where and ....yeah it felt violent ... had to jack it myself in underground and do it there (PLUGS) coz the bug was in me that weekend..couldnt wait till monday!!! lol
BUt sounds like something stupidly simple..... happens if you work on car at night...he he!!

ALSO BE careful around there coz right behind the dv's you can ground out some oil sensor... I cant remember what it was but damn it was annoying.... My bov was touching it.. had to take it all out again and wrap the connector.... lol.... I put stock (fr6's?) at first with ECU flash on K16's ..and was soo happy...but then the bug bit me and went with proto... lol.... colder plugs...
But yeah the plugs did the trick!!! pain in the butt the first time to do....!

Well you can live vicariously thru me and my progression. I have allot of parts going in, but I am going to do the 3.8 kit at the same time. I have everything except the rods and still trying to find the right place to do the work, me thinks it's going to be south of the border. Thanks for the tips...I think I am going to check the DV's I bet its the first DV vacuum line being pinched.

Sorry, this makes no sense. If you threw a CEL, there will be codes stored in the DME. You need to hook up durametric, PST2 or PIWIS and read what you have....that will be easier than changing things out, based on your best guess.

I think the car should be done for June, I will need a wing man for sure! I may take you up on that offer to use the Durametric, Wross has got me thinking there should be codes, but there isn't. My gut is telling me its plugs, but you know how it goes. There is a few guys that get together on Wed nights and play, some fast rides come out, you should be there , i think you will fit right in, we meet in Woodbridge or Oakville. Thanks again I appreciate it.
