Oil return line question?

I have noticed a lot of the upgraded turbos are garrets, what are those oil boxes coming off the turbo? Why not just a simple gt oil drain return?

The factory design uses an oil sump/scavenger setup and the aftermarket turbos must retain it or use a similar design. The simple oil drain return you have seen on other cars relies on gravity, but that will not work on the Porsche because the turbo oil outlets are lower than the engine.

Ohh I see, these cars aren't dry sumped from the factory like the vettes are are they? So the second line coming into the oil box helps drain the oil? Do companies sell those oil boxes alone or do you have to buy their kits?

On KKK or KKK/Garrett turbos, you can use the OEM oil box and lines. If you decide to go with a regular Garrett or similar turbo, you won't be able to use the OEM oil box. Some companies who use the regular Garrett turbos have designed their own oil boxes though.
