Need help with Shift **** / Short Shift

I'm installing the B& M Short Shift and all is going well BUT I can't get the leather shift/shift **** off of the old shifter. Is there a set screw or something hidden which I don't see? Someone help me finish this so I can drive the car!!

If you have the alu look shifetr, yes there is a set screw at the 12 o-clock position under the leather.

If you have the standard non-alu unit, then it should just pull up / off

Pull the trim ring with the leather boot all the way up. There is a 5mm hex set screw in the front holding the **** on.

The base shift **** is just a friction fit. Some of them take some effort to pull off. If that is what you have then grab the **** and twist it back and forth to slightly expand the plastic sleeve the holds in on the metal lever. Then pull.

This is the optional **** with a set screw.

You guys are great. I love you - I mean I like you alot. ToolPants, thanks for the pictures.
The Short Shifter and Shift Link are in. The short drive I took revealed that the shifter is just what I wanted!!
