Defective EVOMS Diverter Valves

I posted the other day that I had a leaking F Hose and it turned out that I had BOTH Evolution Motorsports Diverter Valves leaking where the inlet nipple meets the valve housing. I am pissed. I only tested with 12psi and you can hear it pretty good. I removed them from the car to bench test and confirmed it. I thought that these things were solid billet machine but apparantly the nipple is pressed into the housing. I tell you what: You guys better pressure test the evoms valves because I am thinking there is a SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW here. That is bull****! What valves do you guys reccommend???????? thanks sorry for the rambling.
PS I am trying to reach Imagine Auto, where I bought them and ask Stephen what his thoughts are.. AND we all know that Stehen did not make them so its not his fault.. LOL

Have not heard of any problems with their diverter valves in the past, but I have not been around the P-car scene that long. I am sure you will get a new set of diverter valves and all will be fine.

Mike - Take a valve off and put your finger in the bottom hole and push the piston up slightly. Can you move it side to side? If so, that would be your issue. I have seen a couple sets like that in the past that we have changed out with Forge valves. There is a nylon spacer on the piston usually that keeps it from doing this. Hit me up and I will fire you out an AP FHose and Forge valves at dealer price for you to test. If it does not fix your issue, send it back.

Dan there does appear to be some movement of the piston whatever that means. But they are leaking where the pipe fitting enters the valve housing. So much for solid billet construction. I think if you guys pressure test your boost system you are going to have some surprizes. Or am I the ONLY one who has TWO failed valves after 10K. I thought these were supposed to be lifetime valves!

hey mike, i'll be at the shop tomorrow and the row so if you're arround I've got some at the shop you can swap me with... Weird! Never seen issues with them before (must have installed about a gazillion of them lol). I have had issues with two pairs of baileys (one was my own). I used to have problems with the piston sticking on the Forge units on S4s and other cars I had before. Those need servicing ever so often and lubing...

That`s very nice of you Alex, as always. I am just frustrated that these things failed. Here`s what I did Sharkster. I plugged one end of the turbo pressure line and put a tee with a pressure gauge and air fitting on the other end. I pressured up the system with 12psi and you can litterally hear the air coming from the valve. The soapy water confirmed this. Weird, what the heck could be the cause?? The leak is at the housing and pipe connection. BTW I can turn the pipe in the housing> I thought these thing were solid. anyway thanks again Alex

Hmm that doesn't sound right. Could be defective manuf but I know that so many people have these (and not just on 996TTs). It sounds like it's a bit loose or just not sealed tight either through manuf or assembly. Either way if you want a pair I'm pretty sure I have some (is it just one or both?) and I'll swap them with you. I can deal with the warranty etc....

Weird! Either way I have some I can swap you with... I have some baileys as well I think but I don't like installing them since I had issues with those on my own car before. PLus the lack of a swivvle makes them a pia to install.

xlr8 is infamous around these parts
I just put Evoms diverter valves and fa GIAC flash my 05 Turbo S. The car is really non responsive below 4000 rpm. I dynoed it and it is making 80 less Lbs of Torque at 4000 RPM than my old X50 with the same set up. Could my problem be the new Evoms diverter valves? The car is really lags?
I am plannning on bring the car into the dealer this week. Any thoughts Alex?

hi xlr8, could be that or install error?? Run it stock on the dyno and then flash it on the same day, same dyno and same tank of gas...

Could defective DV cause the car to lag and be weak below 4000 RPM
