Video Turbo Noise

I just picked up a TT, since day one about 90 miles. Under low acceleration/throttle right when the turbos begin to spool they sound like there making a rattle or keychain noise. Only comes in about 2k rpm and upwards to 3500. However on full throttle you won't hear the noise, you hear the engine and exhaust louder. Maybe this is the sound due the them being Variable turbochargers? I will try to get a video, I went to the dealer they said it was normal. You hear it louder when the sound bounces back off other cars driving down a quiet street. Low throttle 2-3k rams 20mph etc. Also when doing videos for the spool noise. I notice a noise from the diverter valves after you release the throttle like a ping. The click is my quickly getting off pedal. The ping is faint but its there..

Videos

IDLE Normal, I watch few idle videos seems normal

Turbo Spool noise

How many miles does the car have on it. The turbo and turbo s have break in time that the car will make noise that sounds like there is something seriously wrong with the car. My TTS made noises and I called the dealer after delivery when I got home (5 miles) and they explained what I just explained to you. The noise finally went away after 500 miles. If you are still concerned it doesn't hurt to contact the dealer. Hopefully this was helpful.

My turbo makes a little noise unless under boost too.

Like a little waste gate flutter. But it's a light metallic rattle. My turbo s did the same thing.

Sold the turbo s at 400 miles and my turbo only has 150 miles ... So I don't know if it goes away or not , :/

Doesn't bother me... The sound of power!

Thanks for the reply, I have about 600 now. Noise still there. It sounds like turbo rattle at spool up. But it is not really a rattle sounds like loose turbine wheels close to what keychains make when you shake them. The dealer said they are noisy the first 2k miles, Normal sounds.

Kind of hard to tell in that short clip.

My description of my noise would be more metallic. Your noise sounds more like a lite whistle... But that could be the video.

Any chance of making a video showing the gauges and what is going on with the car while the noise is taking place.

I know I know, but it may help.

In the diverter valve video you here the whistle/ping when you let off the boost. I would assume thats normal. In noise 3 video. You hear the metallic noise a little.. at the 1.9sec mark. I will try to make better videos. I am not losing boost or anything. Just hearing metallic noises like keychain or chains right when you start building boost is annoying

Sorry... Only one video loaded the first time... Not sure what that was about. Anyways, the idle video sounds like my noise. However, I do not think I hear at idle. I will check tonight when I go home.

I hear a metallic noise like that at times when driving, when the boost actually comes in, even if just a little, that noise goes away.

I will report when I get home.

It sure sounds like a break in of a turbo system.
