I just got a new Porsch filter replaced. Is the KN really worth it? Will I feel the diff or is it psychological?

Found some FUD regarding K&N else where like this one:
"The verdict? My negligence of continuing to use the K&N filter culminated in the buildup of the sludgy material found in the intake system. Due the high-CFM properties the filter inherently has- microscopic particulates, and/or road debris that tend to get past the five layers surgical gauze easily. Once this reaches the combustion chamber and cannot be burned, then scoring of the cylinder walls is likely, resulting in the smoke on acceleration. The filter's high CFM also caused a constant lean running condition, making the engine run hot always. Plus, oiling of the filter was something Porsche never had considered. On my car, the oil would be sucked up all the way through the intake- which should always be dry, and debris-free. The bottom line is- Porsche firmly believes that their cars should always breathe cold, purified air and nothing else. The K&N product sacrifices everything else just to get a quick charge of mass airflow..and thats it! "
Does K&N allow more dirt to flow thru, especially when those gardeners blow the sidewalk leaves and dirt right into oncoming traffic and into the side air intakes of the TT?

Heya Colin, I've had both K&N and BMCs for close the 30k and never had an issue. Used them on all my cars and likewise
Try getting fud through those and I'll give you a prize:P
The side air intakes are for the cold charge for the ICs btw
The only "filter" there are the intercoolers... and in my case the NOS foggers.
The air to the K&N comes through top deck lid and down the plastic shroud into the box. Behind the air filter and the MAF there's also some mesh to block fud etc...

Drawbacks? Well unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't self clean the filter and risk over oiling them. That's what causes MAFs to fail sometimes. At 40something a pop I'm just going to get a new one every 10k miles or so.
We're doing the order today. Please just let George know your details

New Update as of Wednesday 14th
The supplier should have that stuff at the shop tomorrow and ready to go out we _hope_. Either way, nobody will be charged until they're on their way. Those of you that ordered locally can just pick it up of course
