This may be the first maybach post. A car like that needs a driver, no? those rear seats recline far back. I'd rather be in the rear. Awesome car, need more pics of the inside and features. The keyless go is available in most benzes now. The maybach is the ultimate luxury ride. Tell us more on the drive and features.

I think the reclining chair is only available in the lwb version (the 62).

IMO

Not very attractive on the outside...

It is a bit of a shame that it is doomed to end up with cigarette burns on the seats and carpet and ashes floating throughout the cabin.

There is however, a positive side to this... when dad gets emphysema or lung cancer from the cigarettes and can't drive... you'll be able to rescue the car and give it the care it deserves.

Maybach held their Canadian launch at my Golf Club, so my wife and I attended the gala - very sheshe, lobster, Dom, etc. I have an S55 and was really interested in just how much better the Maybach could be - so the next Saturday morning they booked us for a personal, Maybach "appointment".

The "Automotive Concierge" from Maybach was unbelievable. First he sat down with us, and, over espresso, he reviewed the interior hide possibilities, as well as a virtually unlimited combination of exterior two tone colours. Then we started the "test drive". He gave an extremely detailed review of the drivers cockpit, and then went over the endless possibilities for the back seat area - the champagne fridge, plasma screen options, the continually variable glass lcd moonroof (the opaqueness varies from clear to opaque), sound options, internet access options, etc.

When we finally started driving I couldn't believe how different it felt from the S55. First of all, the drivers seat is easily the most comfortable seat I have ever sat in - the interior is modern, luxurious, and the fit and finish is first rate. Think luxury without looking "old" ala Rolls/Bentley. At 3 tons, it was still faster 0-60 than my C4 Cab (!!!). Suspension is adjustible, although it didn't feel quite as tight as the AMG. Everywhere we went, people stared at the car. An incredible ride. The Maybach 57 (the one I drove) is still 14" longer than my S55, so it would be a tight fit in the garage. Anyway - an extremely impressive ride!

Just saw another Maybach 57 here in NYC - Madison & 56th. Cool dude in back seat with a Male/Female driver combo in the front. He was easin' back in the first class seat with his feet up, Plasma on and talkin' on the phone...

Nice stable. I thought the new 7 series was a 760, not 750? I've seen a couple of Maybachs in NYC already... sweet cars! How is the handling?

Keith - the handling is pretty impressive for such a heavy car. You can really feel the longer wheelbase of the Maybach over the S55 (even the shorter wheelbase version). Acceleration is simply unbelievable as is the breaking. Interior is more like a jewellery box in terms of precision (example: there are buttons on the steering wheel where the entire button is handcarved out of wood, and backlit for nightime viewability - so the icon for the phone button, for example, actually has a handcarved phone "icon" completely through the wood so the backlighting shows through - cool)
