996 Turbo Brake Information - DIY and Sorting truth from Fiction!
If you scroll back a few pages, you'll see an indepth discussion between myself and the rep from Brembo. He educated a number of us on why you do NOT want to run the 997 Rear caliper. It is NOT designed for the proportioning/bias of the 996TT hydraulics/computer.
Stick with the 996TT rear caliper...

Hi Mike,
I'm not sure if you're referring to my post or not. Just to be clear, I am not planning to run 997 calipers on 350mm rotors on a 996. I just want to know the pad size.
Cheers

Guys,
I did the GT3 6 pot upgrade this spring. Have about 9 track days on them and the OEM rotors are cracking. I expected this. What are my choices for 350mm slotted rotors. I know there is a Brembo two piece floating option. What are some other more economical choices? Oak, I noticed you are running the Giro disks. How do you like those? Any other choices in slotted?

scott, there were only two choices at the time I was searching for 2 pc slotted rotor replacments.
I have done the 6 pot years ago and was looking to upgrading to 350mm 2 pc rears w/ parking brake function.
at the time I was searching you either had the no parking brake option or go with brembo. then I heard about the giro discs that offered a complete 2pc with 350mm slotted rotor for the front and rear that utilizes the stock caliper for the rear and had the parking brake.
after doing some research and speaking to other track junkies about the giro discs it seemed like a decent choice. most track guys are claiming that they are lasting 3-4 times as longer than the cup discs.
I was quite impressed at the overall quality of the giro discs esp the machining and detail of the cnc'd hat.

You might want to contact Michael at MotorSport Brakes, I know 996TT rotor replacements are on the way from Performance Friction, I think 997TT replacements are too. They are excellent 2 piece floating technology, e-brake compatible.

Nice review on the same rotors but for the GTR over NAGTROC

pfc are also a good company with excellent feed back. infact they were orginally the first mfgr "talking" about making a set. but it's been in the "works" for awhile, I had been waiting patiently then the giros showed up. maybe I'll try a set of pfc's in the future, so far I couldn't be happier with the giros.

Who did you source for the Giro discs?
Guys just for FYI, I have attached here the proper BED IN instructions per Brembo on 2piece rotors. Sometimes if brakes are improperly bed in because of what you read online, pad deposit can be left on the rotor causing a mild shake under hard braking. Hope this helps.

Of course you can view all our Brembo 2pc Porsche Rotors Here.

Hey Dan,
Do the 2pc rotors normally make any extra noise? The brakes are squeeling and I'm wondering if its the pads or rotors. Oh yeah love the added stopping power these things have.
