Thanks guys, sweet pics. I pretty much decided after reviewing this thread that I am going to go with silver and get the Techart Type II Nose. Now, another wheel dilema..........

My choices would be:
Hre 543R
Techart Formula GTS
HRE542R
HRE 545R

All would have black center, anodized or painted?? Which looks better on silver?

Thanks Gary for your insight, I have a tough choice no doubt, luckily, or unluckliy my build date isn't until January 2005
By then I'll sell you my 543's....

I like anodized on Silver and painted on Black... JMHO...

Great wheel options. I don't know if you will be able to find the Techart Formula GTS (19") in black. Seems like they are very hard to find new (if not impossible). Of the other choices, I would lean towards the HRE 543's.

Lou,

the turbo is still for sale as is... with HRE rims. i am still waiting for a reply-back from this 1 guy. within 2-3 days. if the deal doesn't go through then i am going to saperate the HRE rims from the car, then sell it.

in my personal opinion, i LOVE the HREs...that with painted black center and polished lips, it looks awsome! no doubt. the little downside with HRE painted centers, that they are prone to stone-chipping.

but i have to say , that the 19" TechArt GTS rims are darn strong wheels, it went through a deep pot-hole without causing any damage to the rims.

hope that helps,
Endra

Endra,

Keep me in mind when you sell those wheels, I want them, from seeing your car, I decided to get a silver car (January Build Turbo "S") with black HRE 542R's. I love those pics of your car. How much extra did HRE charge to paint the wheels black? Do your wheels have any stone chips now and if so, how were they repaired, by whom, and how much. BTW, kinda a loaded question, but, which wheels looked better on your car the HRE's or Techarts? Thanks for the feedback everyone, Chad, your hood is sweet!

Anything painted may chip... I would anodize on a silver car if I had the choice... Both will look fine... I never clean my anodized centers between washes... Just the lips... You can't even tell and they tend to not hold onto the dust... Painted will get duller as they get covered with brake dust and YOU will know they are dirty even if others may not... Not that they are a ***** to clean... 542's are pretty easy.. Polished lips are not...

Whichever way you go they will look great....

Good luck...

Endra's car is HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys state a universal obvious that Lou is going to spend his money on whatever he wishes... so is Joe, so is Kayla, so is Bob, etc. But the whole point of people visiting and contributing to this forum is to do just that... type thoughts out so others can read it. And if you feel what I'm saying is ridiculous, so be it.

Let me further state that I'm not alone when it comes to being a huge not-fan of HRE wheels on P-cars or any other types of sports cars. HRE has ZERO motorsports involvement/experience. It's all about the looks, it's all about the bling blang; a bit shallow.

We are here to split hairs, so I'm splitting my own.

Man our Turbo S has a January 05 build date too. Is GT silver dark like seal grey? Right now I decided on Polar silver with metropole blue top/leather. I think GT silver will be more rare though, but I don't want a dark color because of dust. If anybody has pics that would be great thanks. Sorry Lou I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Gt Silver is darker than arctic silver, in between seal grey and arctic silver. Polar silver is a great choice, just like the above pics of endras car.

Lou

BTW, I could have had a october build, but, didn't want my car delivered in the dead of winter.

I must have missed where Lou stated that he was going to race his car... So motorsport involvement/experience is a consideration.....

So it's shallow that someone has different tastes than you?? Your comment that the fact that he wants to put HRE's on his car is shallow... shows who is shallow... HRE's are "bling". So I guess a carbon center console or a painted center console is bling also since it serves no function...

So your car has no options that are strictly for looks... All the options you choose were developed by Porsche based on their experience with motorsports and racing...

If you don't like HRE's on sports cars that is fine... You don't and obviously will not buy them... But you comments suggest that Lou and others are "shallow" because they do... You don't even know these people to make that comment..

There are many things I don't like either... but that is IMHO... the "H" stands for HUMBLE.... I state my comments without passing judgements based on peoples likes and dislikes..

All this is IMHO of course...

I sort of agree with Benjamin ... if someone posted they were putting Sprees on their car, what would be the response?

HREs are for the bling ... nothing wrong with that

Hee hee I want to see sprees now that would be bling bling... I'm not disagreeing they are for the look.. 99% of the people on this board buy their wheels for the look no matter what type HREs, Techart, Avus, SSR just keep listing them....... So many of us have Techart body parts also for the look...

Like you said nothing wrong with that..
