the standalone unit is truly allowing for tuning strategies that were unattainable using the factory ecu imo. i am just amazed at how conservative the tune is and still being able to reach 800 rwhp. the air/fuel is still extremely rich up top and the timing is also very conservative for added protection. we will continue to fine tune the drivability as well as implement some launch control strategies next. i have also asked tym to see if he could implement a scramble boost. i want to run the car very conservatively at around 700 ish rwhp at 1.3 bar. however, in those special situations where i am running neck and neck with some serious competition, i would like a scramble boost button that temporarily allows for 800+ rwhp. just enough to pull it out at the end. i think i will call it the "half car" button. just enough to win a race by half a car!

 

Congrats! What was changed externally on your car? Maf? Headers? ICs? Hoses? Plugs? etc? What fuel were you using?

yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. i think just about anything you can bolt on has been bolted on. take a look at the original pictures i posted ... https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...d.php?t=121124 and you can see the intake, intercoolers, exhaust, turbos, etc. the car was running on c16 at 1.5 bar. most of the parts have been custom fabricated or special ordered for this application so i don't quite know all the specific details. i will leave that up to tym. i just want the end results and i am happy.

I dont want to sound like Im against anything Switzer is doing- because Im not... I actually sent a big build his way because I am excited about the progress...
With that said, Im not sure if I follow you but 800 rwhp has been achieved on a stock ECU...more then once.... it really comes down to the sum of all the parts rather then contributing all the success to a ecu... what say you?
The bigger picture is that the tuning seems to be working... and probably very promising... that is the point in my opinion...

 

Congrats on the great car and numbers! Sounds like Tym Switzer (along with a little help from Protomotive) did an outstanding job on your car! I look forward to seeing some 60-130 times.

i agree with you 100%. it's not just an ecu that makes a project successful. it is definitely finding the correct combination of parts. with that being said, i was really impressed with the fabrication of all the different parts. we were able to see a significant difference with every part that was fabricated. i just can't wait to get my car and drive it for the summer.

thanks Scott. we are hoping to do some street tuning in the next couple of days if the weather cooperates. the 60 - 130 times are real world numbers and that is what really matters to me. hopefully i will be sending them to you soon.

 

wow thats nice!!!! subscribed....when will this standalone kit be release?

 

if you are looking for just the basic setup without specific options (i.e. launch control, scramble boost, etc) you should talk to tym now. tym is more about taking one project at a time based upon the customers needs. but i think he just about has the basic setup done.
