Sorry about that, but you need to leave the light with the other guy and not miss your shift. That car simply can not come out of the hole like a 911.

A stock E55 60 fts in the 1.7x+ range, you better be fast off the line and be ready if you have an E55 next to you at the light. There is an amazing amount of readily available TQ in the low revs. Just add a few goodies and you can reel him back in, but from a dig it will always be tough against these cars, and modified they are scary fast.
AMG cars are crazy launchers. To the point of being stupid.
Jenk12m's old S55 did 1.9 60' on PS2's. I can barely do that in my TT. If you arent talented at launching, the AMG will leave you from the line.

Never underestimate your enemy LOL...Mod E55 can trap 129 in 1/4 and can do low 11s...its a torgue monster...

haha~good to see u guys here~and you are right about the usual step that E55 owners take...Modded 911 tt...With my car at 600+ hp and close to 700 torque, i still can't get enough.lol I have a buddy(member here) with Proto 650 kit. Haven't even felt the power since he upgraded from 600, but i could tell u that it's seriously fast especially top end~ But, im gonna miss my E55. The only reason im planning on selling it is because of the handling. Other than that, it's been the best sedan i've ever driven.i dont care what people say if they like M5 or other sports sedan more.
Guys, I have a tiptronic X50 tt, with the evosMS stage 3 package (basically flash, intake and exhuast). I had no problems taking an E55 from a stop light about 3 weeks ago. So the upgrades do make a huge difference. There is also something to be said for eliminating the possibility of driver error in these situations. That's easy because for the tiptronic for me. Definitely more room for error with a manual.
here is a video of what looks like two stockers a 996 and an AMG E55 from a rolling start. They are very close with the 996 pulling ahead just slightly in the beginning and they then stayed that same distance until the 996 let off. So it looks like if you do a rolling start you would be neck and neck, but that is not good enough. so a kit will do,

Just to put things in perspective here is a video of the E55 that I used to own against a Lingenfelter Z06 from a standstill. I think you guys know how fast a Z06 is, especially a 625hp Lingenfelter, that is why I am posting this. FYI, I believe an E55 shifts into 3rd around 80mph and my car was pulling on the Z06 up until then.

The TT's dont have much punch in stock form after 100mph, and that E55 is nearly as fast as the new M5 and M6 which will walk a stock TT like nobodies business after 100.

you also have to remember that AMG is a tuner, they were basically an aftermarket tuner company that Merc would it's cars to have "hot rodded" So it would be like if Porsche sent it's cars out to Ruf to have them modified and sold them through the dealer. I really like the AMG's, they are the mercs that Mercedes has never been able to make. I like AMG's but I would not take one over an M3 or a 996TT.
